Singapore Airlines is rolling out changes to its KrisFlyer loyalty program on November 1, 2025, bringing higher award redemption rates across most cabins and regions. And while the program will keep its fixed award charts, it will also add a dynamic redemption option into the mix.

While no traveler likes to see a devaluation, this one is relatively mild compared to industry norms. The airline deserves credit for being transparent and giving members plenty of notice before the new pricing kicks in.

Here’s what you need to know.

Key Changes Coming to KrisFlyer Redemptions in 2025

Effective November 1, 2025, Singapore Airlines is making several updates to its KrisFlyer program. From modest increases in award pricing to the introduction of new dynamic “Access” redemptions, there’s quite a bit changing.

Saver Award Changes: Mild Increases Across Nearly All Cabins

Saver redemptions, KrisFlyer’s most popular (and cheapest) redemption option, are seeing relatively minor adjustments:

  • Within Asia and South West Pacific (Zones 1–9): Economy award rates will decrease by 5%, while business- and first-class rates will increase by 5%.
  • Flights to/from Europe and the U.S. (Zones 11–13): Expect a 5% increase across all cabins.
  • Flights to/from Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey (Zone 10): These see the steepest jump, with 10%–20% increases across cabins.
  • Advantage awards: Increases range from 10% to 15%, except for Zone 10, where business class awards rise by 18% and first class by 15%.

While no one’s excited about paying more miles, these changes feel relatively mild, in line with Singapore Airlines’ track record of tweaking its award pricing every few years. The biggest impact will be on premium cabin Saver awards, which are seeing the largest increases compared with economy seats.

Hot Tip:

The good news is that KrisFlyer is a transfer partner with several major credit card programs: Amex Membership Rewards, Capital One miles, Chase Ultimate Rewards, and Citi ThankYou Rewards. That makes it easy to top up your KrisFlyer balance quickly and secure award bookings at current rates before the November 1 changes take effect.

Star Alliance Partner Awards See About a 10% Bump

Award travel on Star Alliance partners is also going up by roughly 10% across the board.

If you’re booking on Star Alliance partners, the change is noticeable but not shocking. A one-way flight in North America will now run 15,000 miles in economy and 29,000 in business, slightly higher than the previous rates of 14,000 and 26,000 miles, respectively.

Upgrade Awards: Smaller Impact

Upgrade awards are going up by roughly 5%–10%, depending on the cabin and route.

While that sounds like a meaningful jump, the impact is limited. Upgrades have never offered the same bang-for-your-buck value as booking a full award ticket outright. For most travelers, this is more of a minor annoyance than a significant loss.

If anything, it reinforces the strategy of planning ahead and booking award seats directly rather than relying on last-minute upgrades.

‘Access’ Awards Add Flexibility

A notable new feature is the launch of Access redemptions, which allow members to use miles for dynamically priced tickets when award seats aren’t available.

This option won’t replace Saver or Advantage awards, but it gives travelers more flexibility when planning trips. Pricing details haven’t been released yet, so we’ll be watching closely as this rolls out.

Bottom Line:

Dynamic pricing means you’ll pay more miles when cash prices are high and fewer miles when prices are low. Since these will be available after award seats are gone, we don’t expect the prices to be competitive against KrisFlyer’s award charts.

Final Thoughts

Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer devaluation is hardly surprising, given the carrier’s history of updating its award chart every few years. What stands out is Singapore Airlines’ transparency and advance notice, which is a refreshing contrast to the sudden devaluations we’ve seen from other airlines.

While premium cabin rates are creeping up, the increases are moderate and balanced by a small economy rate cut in Asia-Pacific. If you have upcoming Singapore Airlines or Star Alliance flights in mind, now’s the time to book before these changes take effect.
