The elevated welcome offer on these cards coincides with major changes to the Southwest Airlines cards announced today.

New 100K Welcome Offer on Southwest Credit Cards

Put another way, it required spending $1,000 per month, on average, for a year. This new offer requires spending an average of just $800 per month for 5 months.

Are These Offers Worth It?

These offers provide a great way to earn lots of Southwest points. However, Southwest Airlines has undergone significant changes this year, and it’s worth highlighting those while considering the offers on these cards.

Southwest ended its famous checked baggage policy under which everyone could check 2 bags for free. As of May 2025, many people have to pay for checked luggage with Southwest. Earlier this week, Southwest announced its impending policies regarding boarding groups and choosing seats in advance. The airline will also introduce extra legroom seats on flights.

Plus, today, Chase and Southwest announced major changes to these cards, altering the benefits and increasing the annual fees on these cards.
