Grand Cayman is one of those destinations that sits just a short flight from the U.S. but feels worlds away — thanks to its famed Seven Mile Beach, turquoise water, excellent food scene, and solid lineup of points-friendly hotels.

Now, getting there is even easier. Spirit has debuted new nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Grand Cayman (GCM), adding another option for travelers heading to the Cayman Islands.

Let’s take a look at this new route.

A Low-Cost Nonstop From Fort Lauderdale to Grand Cayman

Spirit Airlines‘ newest route officially launched today, connecting Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) with Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM) in Grand Cayman.

The service operates 3x weekly on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, offering travelers a consistent schedule for long weekend getaways or extended stays.

The new route introduces another option for travelers looking for a simple, nonstop connection from South Florida without needing to route through Miami (MIA) or Tampa (TPA). It also gives travelers a great 1-stop option from many of Spirit’s top markets — including New York, Detroit, and Chicago.

The flights strengthen Spirit’s Caribbean footprint from its headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, where the airline continues to build out its network of short-haul international routes. With Grand Cayman now included, Spirit serves more than 20 international destinations from Fort Lauderdale.

Spirit’s standard Airbus A320-family aircraft, serving most of its Caribbean network, will operate the new route.

Hot Tip:

If you’re considering a trip to the Cayman Islands, compare fares across all airlines serving the region, including American Airlines, Cayman Airways, and JetBlue, which also compete for passengers between South Florida and Grand Cayman. You may also want to check pricing from both Fort Lauderdale and Miami; even with similar flight times, fares between the 2 airports can vary widely. Fort Lauderdale often prices lower, especially during peak travel periods.

Final Thoughts

Spirit’s launch of nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale and Grand Cayman adds another convenient way to reach one of the Caribbean’s most popular islands. With 3x weekly flights and easy 1-stop connections from other U.S. cities, the route gives travelers additional flexibility when planning travel to the island of Grand Cayman.
