Hyatt’s Thompson brand has planted its flag in Europe with the opening of a property in Madrid, Spain.

Here’s what you need to know about this exciting new hotel!

Hyatt’s Thompson Brand Debuts in the Spanish Capital

The 175-room Thompson Madrid is now open for guests. The property is located on Calle De La Montera and is close to the city’s museums, theatres, and other famous attractions.

Guests can take their pick of rooms, from options with a king bed, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a rain shower, to one with a king bed and a terrace measuring from 140 to 215 square feet.

The hotel has 3 restaurants:

  • The Omar, which is an all-day bakery.
  • Thompson Madrid Rooftop, where guests can enjoy authentic cuisine and sip cocktails. The rooftop offers panoramic views of Madrid and is near the hotel’s infinity pool.
  • Hijos de Tomás, which opens this fall, is expected to become an “upscale and intentionally intimate drinking den.”

Additionally, the hotel also features 6 spaces for meetings and events that can hold up to 300 guests.

“We are excited to welcome guests to Thompson Madrid and invite them to immerse themselves into the culture of the city, which can be found inside and outside the walls of the hotel,” said Carlos Erburu Zazpe, general manager of Thompson Madrid, said in a statement.

“Inspired by Madrid’s nearby ‘kilometer Zero,’ which marks the spot all distances in Spain are measured from, all journeys start in Madrid, and all authentic Madrilenian experiences for our guests begin in Thompson Madrid,” the statement continued.

Thompson is one of Hyatt’s higher-end brands, emphasizing luxury and catering to “upper-upper-scale travelers.” There are 17 Thompson hotels located in 15 cities worldwide.

The Thompson Madrid is a Category 4 World of Hyatt property. That means award nights for standard rooms start at 12,000 points per night for off-peak dates, 15,000 points per night for standard dates, and 18,000 points for peak nights. Guests can also use a Category 1-4 free night certificate for a night at this property.

The opening makes the Thompson Madrid the fifth World of Hyatt property in the city; the others include the Category 5 Hyatt Centric Gran Via Madrid, the Category 4 Hyatt Regency Hesperia Madrid, the Category 5 Hyatt Regency Madrid Residences, and the Category 6 Urso Hotel & Spa.
