The highly anticipated Thompson Miami Beach, originally set to open in October 2025, has unexpectedly lost its Hyatt affiliation. Once poised to join Hyatt’s lifestyle brand portfolio, the 147-room property is now unaffiliated, leaving World of Hyatt members and future guests dumbfounded.

Here’s what we know about this development.

Thompson Miami Beach Pulls Away from Hyatt

The Thompson Miami Beach had been accepting reservations for October stays, but Hyatt’s website now does not mention the property.

As first reported by One Mile at a Time, a Hyatt spokesperson confirmed that the Thompson Miami Beach is no longer affiliated with World of Hyatt:

“Thompson Miami Beach, which has not yet opened, is no longer affiliated with the Thompson Hotels brand or Hyatt. At this time, we do not have information regarding the hotel owner’s plans for the hotel, including whether or when the hotel will open or its brand affiliation, and we are working with the owner to ensure a smooth transition for future guests and colleagues.”

The hotel was expected to make a big splash in Miami Beach, featuring 147 rooms and suites with floor-to-ceiling windows, private balconies, and mid-century modern design with South American influences. Guests were looking forward to a rooftop pool, lobby bar, and a rooftop restaurant with sweeping views of the Art Deco district — an especially exciting addition for World of Hyatt members seeking more lifestyle options in the area, alongside Andaz Miami Beach and Hyatt Centric South Beach.

Confirmed reservations will be canceled without penalty, and Hyatt will notify affected guests while assisting with alternative arrangements. Guests with questions — including World of Hyatt members with award reservations — will need to contact Hyatt’s Global Care Centers at 1-888-848-9496 (U.S.) or 1-402-952-1131 (international) to rebook, confirm cancellations, or explore other hotel options.

Hot Tip:

Keep an eye on Hyatt’s website and the hotel’s official channels — if the property does reopen under a new brand, early reservations could give you the best rates and availability.

Final Thoughts

The Thompson Miami Beach will no longer open in October 2025 and has officially parted ways with Hyatt. While hotels occasionally rebrand before opening, it’s rare to see such a sudden change when the launch is just weeks away and signage is already installed. The situation leaves both prospective guests and the local hospitality community wondering what comes next.
