In late 2024, Marriott Bonvoy announced that it had acquired Postcard Cabins (formerly known as Getaway Outposts) and entered into a long-term agreement with Trailborn Hotels, an outdoor hospitality brand.

More details of those partnerships are now available, and now, Trailborn Hotels can now be booked with Marriott Bonvoy points. Let’s take a look.

Trailborn Hotels

You’ll soon be able to earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points at Trailborn Hotels, assuming you book directly through Marriott. This addition to Bonvoy’s terms was first noticed by AwardWallet, and it’s a continuation of the 2024 announcement that Marriott had entered into an agreement with Trailborn.

Marriott says you’ll earn 10x Marriott Bonvoy points per $1 spent on Trailborn Hotels. Here are some of the other benefits Marriott members will earn on Trailborn bookings:

  • Complimentary in-room internet access
  • Ultimate Reservation Guarantee: Should your reservation be unavailable, you will receive $200 and 90,000 points (for all elite members)
  • Elite welcome gift: Marriott Gold Elite members will receive 500 points per stay, while Platinum Elite and above members will receive 1,000 Points per stay or a $10 food and beverage credit per night
  • Guaranteed room type: Platinum Elite members and above members will receive $100 in compensation

The following Trailborn Hotels properties will now fall under Marriott Bonvoy:

A notice on the websites for Trailborn Grand Canyon and Trailborn Surf & Sound says, “Reservations are not yet available.” However, Marriott’s website says reservations will be available starting in April.

Hot Tip:

However, there are some limitations to be aware of before you book. Trailborn Hotels doesn’t offer typical Marriott Bonvoy benefits such as Instant Redemption Awards, nightly upgrade awards, 48-Hour Guaranteed Availability, or gift shop discounts.

About Trailborn Hotels

Marriott Hotels‘ long-term agreement with Trailborn Hotels brings more than 550 rooms in 5 outdoor destinations under the Marriott Bonvoy flag. Though Trailborn’s presence is pretty small, the company says several other hotels in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, and Mendocino, California, are in development.

If you aren’t familiar with it, Trailborn is a boutique hotel brand focusing on the outdoor segment. The hotel focuses on “experience-driven programming and curated food and beverage offerings.”

Marriott has become the latest hotel chain to focus on outdoor travel, and it gained more popularity during the coronavirus pandemic. Hilton has a partnership with AutoCamp, while several outdoor-themed hotels are available through Mr & Mrs Smith, bookable with World of Hyatt points.

Final Thoughts

Marriott’s partnership with Trailborn Hotels is starting to materialize. We now know how you’ll earn points, plus the benefits you’ll receive (and won’t) when booking Trailborn properties. We’ll keep an eye out on Trailborn and will update this post when award rates are available.
