Update:The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

TAP Air Portugal has done us all a favor and dumped loads of business class award seats on its nonstop flights to Lisbon (LIS) — including from the West Coast!

We’re seeing as many as 9 seats per flight. Therefore, if you’re trying to get to Europe this year or the next, take a look and see if there are dates that work for you.

Fare Alert — Details

TAP Air Portugal is a member of the Star Alliance, which means you’ll be able to redeem your points from airlines such as United, Air Canada, Avianca, and ANA. While TAP’s cabins all offer lie-flat seats and good food, just know they’re not the most premium product in the sky.

  • Class: Business
  • Routes: San Francisco (SFO), Boston (BOS), Newark (EWR), New York (JFK), Washington D.C. (IAD), and Miami (MIA) to Lisbon (LIS)
  • Dates: November 2023 to April 2024
  • Rates: As low as 88,000 miles round-trip

The best and easiest way to search for your routes is via Seats.aero, whose Pro function will show you award space up to a year in advance.

If you’re based in New York (JFK), Avianca’s website has a very nifty loophole. You can even book these flights for just 35,000 miles one-way in business class.

Otherwise, ANA will charge you 88,000 miles round-trip for your flight — even if you’re all the way on the West Coast.

Best Ways to Book

These flights are bookable via a variety of partners, so you’re absolutely spoiled for choice. Willing to position to New York (JFK)? You’ll be able to book flights for just 70,000 miles round-trip with Avianca LifeMiles.

Fortunately, LifeMiles are spectacularly easy to earn thanks to their partnerships with American Express Membership Rewards, Capital One Miles, and Citi ThankYou points. All of these programs transfer over to Avianca at a 1:1 ratio.

Otherwise, consider transferring over your Amex points to ANA at a 1:1 ratio. By doing so, you can book your round-trip flight for just 88,000 miles. Just know that Amex Membership Rewards points transfers to ANA can take up to 3 days. However, with the amount of availability we’re seeing, you should still be able to book these flights by the time your points transfer.

Final Thoughts

It’s rare to find nonstop award flights from the West Coast to Europe in business, let alone with multiple seats. If this is something you’re interested in, jump now before it disappears!
