Virgin Atlantic is picking up the pace on one of its most exciting onboard upgrades: free Starlink Wi-Fi.

What was already a big announcement last year is accelerating, with the first aircraft featuring lightning-fast in-flight Wi-Fi set to go live in just a few weeks.

Here’s what travelers need to know — and why it’s all happening sooner than expected.

Virgin Atlantic has confirmed that its Starlink rollout is officially accelerating, bringing free, high-speed Wi-Fi to passengers sooner than originally expected.

The airline first announced its partnership with Starlink in 2025, becoming the first U.K. carrier to commit to free, fleet-wide connectivity — and now that timeline is moving up.

From there, things ramp up quickly. Virgin Atlantic will begin installing Starlink on the Airbus A350 fleet in May 2026, and by early summer, all A350s should be fully connected. The first passenger flight with Starlink is expected in early May, on a route between London Heathrow (LHR) and New York (JFK).

From there, the rollout will expand across the fleet. Boeing 787 aircraft are slated to receive Starlink in the second half of 2026, with roughly two-thirds of Virgin Atlantic’s fleet expected to be connected by the end of the year. The final phase will include Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, with full fleet-wide coverage targeted for completion in 2027.

Once installed, Starlink will be free for Flying Club members and will offer a major upgrade over traditional inflight Wi-Fi. Thanks to its low Earth orbit satellite network, passengers can expect faster speeds, lower latency, and more reliable connectivity — even over remote areas.

In practical terms, that means streaming, gaming, and working should become the norm on board. Virgin Atlantic says passengers will be able to connect multiple devices simultaneously, creating a “home away from home” experience in the sky.

Hot Tip:

If you’re not already a Flying Club member, it’s worth signing up before your next Virgin Atlantic flight, as that’s how you’ll unlock free Starlink Wi-Fi onboard.

Final Thoughts

Virgin Atlantic is moving quickly to roll out Starlink across its fleet, and the updated timeline suggests things are happening faster than initially planned. When the airline first announced the partnership in 2025, full rollout was expected to take longer, but now, much of the fleet could be connected by the end of 2026.

If things stay on track, the full fleet should be connected with Starlink Wi-Fi by 2027 — so passengers can expect a more consistent experience no matter which aircraft they end up on.
