Marriott announced on August 31, 2023, that it would open another W Hotel in the United Arab Emirates.

Here’s what you need to know!

W Al Marjan Island Opens in Q1 2027

The W Al Marjan Island will become the brand’s first property in Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates.

The hotel will be situated directly on the beach overlooking the Arabian Gulf, with 300 rooms and suites plus 3 dining options. Like other W Hotels, the Al Marjan Island property will have the signature Living Room, WET deck, W Lounge, spa, and fitness centers.

Marriott says it expects the property to open in the first quarter of 2027, though note that opening timelines for hotels are notoriously over-optimistic, so this date is subject to change, to say the least.

“Ras Al Khaimah continues to be a sought-after leisure destination attracting global travelers to its idyllic beaches and attractions,” said Saahil Lalit, Vice President – Development, Middle East, Marriott. “We look forward to continuing to support the growth of the tourism sector in the Emirate.”

Marriott says this signing marks the W brand’s commitment to Europe, the Middle East, and Africa markets. This property will become the fourth W property in the UAE, following the W Dubai The Palm, W Dubai – Mina Seyahi, and W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island.

Booking Marriott Properties in the UAE

While we wait for the W Al Marjan Island to open, let’s look at other Marriott properties in the country. Marriott has more than 70 properties open across numerous brands in the Emirates, ranging from budget-friendly hotels to 5-star resorts.

For instance, a 1-night stay at the Dubai EDITION starts at 85,000 points per night this fall and winter, while you can score a room at the Four Points by Sheraton Sharjah for just 13,500 points.

If you need to increase your account balance quickly, you’re in luck, as it’s pretty easy to earn Marriott Bonvoy points. Marriott offers several co-branded credit cards, all offering substantial welcome bonuses. You can then redeem Marriott Bonvoy points at hotels worldwide, including in the UAE.

Hot Tip:

You can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points earned from several Chase credit cards and American Express Membership Rewards points earned from Amex credit cards at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts

This is excellent news for Marriott Bonvoy loyalists who are fans of the W brand. While we don’t know much about this upcoming hotel, it’s expected to be a luxury property offering all the perks associated with a W Hotel. Until the property opens, take a look at Marriott’s other hotels in the UAE!
