The W Maldives — one of the best points options in the idyllic island nation — recently got a huge makeover to its villas, spa, and more.

Let’s take a look at the W Maldives’ transformation and how you can book with Marriott Bonvoy points!

W Maldives Renovation

W Maldives announced on March 11 a sweeping transformation of the resort. Specifically, all 77 villas have been redesigned into “stylish hideaways.” New room types include 2-bedroom overwater and beach villas with water slides.

Other updates include the AWAY Spa — a W brand signature spa — which has 4 overwater couples’ treatment rooms, plus a refreshed WET Deck, dining, and more.

“We are not simply unveiling a completely renovated resort; we are redefining our signature, liberated approach to destination-driven luxury with this newly reimagined hotel,” said W Hotels Global Brand leader George Fleck. “W Maldives has been transformed for both global travelers and locals alike, offering meaningful experiences and a deep dive into the cultural richness of these islands.”

The W Maldives is 1 of several high-end Marriott Bonvoy hotels in the country, including The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort and The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands.

How To Book W Maldives With Points

The W Maldives has reopened for guests and, as expected, participates in the Marriott Bonvoy program. Cash rates start at a whopping $2,000 nightly. But if you’re planning a longer stay, we strongly recommend redeeming Marriott Bonvoy points.

The Maldives is one of the best ways to use Marriott Bonvoy points, and the W Maldives is no exception.

In fact, award rates here start at just 80,500 points per night. Plus, you can bring the total cost of your stay down with the fifth night free.

Additionally, if you have some 85,000-point free night certificates, offered with the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card, you can cover your stay on select nights during the year.

Marriott Bonvoy points are some of the easiest to earn. Aside from opening a Marriott Bonvoy co-branded credit card, you can transfer points from American Express Membership RewardsBilt Rewards, or Chase Ultimate Rewards or through activities like dining.

Hot Tip:

The W Maldives is offering a sweet promo between March 1 and May 5, 2025. Using the promo code ES1, you can score complimentary daily buffet breakfast, daily 2-course lunch and 3-course dinner, and in-room minibar on cash stays.

Final Thoughts

The W Maldives’ spa and several room types were renovated. But one thing that hasn’t changed is its affordability with Marriott Bonvoy points. The W Maldives offers an exceptional value for points stays in the Maldives at 80,500 points per night.
