Hilton has some big news to share today — the hotel chain has announced the opening of a new Waldorf Astoria property in Egypt.

Let’s dive right into the details!

Hilton’s Waldorf Astoria Brand Makes Its Debut in Africa by Way of Egypt

The Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis has 252 rooms and suites and is located in the ancient city of Heliopolis.

The hotel has 4 restaurants and bars, a pool, a spa, and meeting space for up to 2,000 people. Guests will also have access to a personal concierge, a brand signature. With the concierge program, guests will receive a personal welcome at check-in, personal escorts to their room, and complimentary bag-packing service.

Hilton pointed to Egypt’s rapid tourism growth — the country saw nearly 12 million visitors last year, according to the chain — for expanding Waldorf Astoria, one of the chain’s flagship brands, in the country.

While nearly 3 dozen Waldorf Astoria properties are open worldwide, this marks the brand’s debut in Africa. Per Hilton, future Waldorf Astoria locations in Africa include Morocco and the Seychelles.

“As the first Waldorf Astoria property to debut in Egypt, Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis signals Hilton’s commitment to expanding our luxury portfolio to the world’s most sought-after destinations,” said Dino Michael, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Hilton Luxury Brands.

How To Book

The Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis is now open for guests and is participating in the Hilton Honors loyalty program. That means you’ll be able to earn and redeem Hilton Honors points at the hotel.

For a high-end brand such as Waldorf Astoria, you’d expect award nights to be sky-high, but they’re reasonable. Award nights start at just 70,000 Hilton Honors points through the end of the year — and even if you’re a casual fan of Hilton, you should be able to easily earn enough points for a stay.

Like many hotel chains, Hilton no longer uses an award chart. Instead, the chain has adopted variable award pricing, which means award nights can be cheaper or more expensive, depending on when you travel.

However, it’s easy to earn Hilton Honors points. Hilton offers several co-branded credit cards with sizable welcome bonuses and some form of elite status.

Hot Tip:

Hilton Honors members can also transfer points from American Express, ride with Lyft, or dine out to earn more points.

Final Thoughts

This is fantastic news for travelers looking for another points option in Cairo. What’s even better is that award nights start at just 70,000 points per night, which is a steal compared to other Waldorf Astoria properties around the world. If you’re planning to visit Cairo, make sure to check out this hotel for a great way to use your Hilton Honors points!
