The author stayed as an invited guest of the St. Regis Bermuda Resort. All opinions are the author’s own, and The St. Regis Bermuda had no input in any part of this review.

The St. Regis Bermuda is one of Bermuda’s most luxurious 5-star hotels. Ever since it debuted in May 2021, I’ve wanted to visit the British Overseas Territory’s largest island and check out this fancy resort.

Bermuda is in the North Atlantic Ocean, some 1,500 miles north of the nearest Caribbean island and 600 miles east off the coast of North Carolina. Contrary to popular belief, Bermuda is not a Caribbean country, though it does share many of the region’s same attributes, such as warm, tropical weather and crystal-clear seas.

So when I had the chance to visit Bermuda with my family and stay at the St. Regis Bermuda Resort for the first time, I jumped at it.

Here are the 7 things I loved about the St. Regis Bermuda Resort.

1. Superb Location

Bermuda is only 90 minutes from New York City and 2 to 3 hours from major U.S. East Coast cities such as Atlanta, Boston, Miami, and Philadelphia.

What’s great is that you can head straight to the beach or pool at the St. Regis Bermuda Resort within minutes of landing. The hotel is a short 10-minute drive from the airport.

The St. Regis Bermuda is only 10 minutes away from the airport.

The resort is in colorful and historic St. George’s Parish. On the northeast tip of the island, it offers breathtaking views of the North Atlantic Ocean and is next to Fort St. Catherine, a world-renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The hotel is located next to one of Bermuda’s most popular attractions, Fort St. Catherine.

The hotel is an excellent starting point for exploring the rest of the island, including popular attractions like the pink-sand Horseshoe Bay Beach and the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo.

If you want to see more of the island, you can hire a driver with the St. Regis Bermuda and spend the day sightseeing, going from town to town and beach to beach.

2. Families Can Book a Stay Using Points

Luxury brands such as the Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, and St. Regis provide their guests with an unmatched level of opulence and service. Out of all those brands, there’s only one that’s worth considering if you want to book with points. With Marriott Bonvoy points, you can score a stay at St. Regis Resorts anywhere in the world.

St. Regis Bermuda Property
You can use Marriott Bonvoy points to stay at the St. Regis Bermuda.

Even though the St. Regis Bermuda’s low season rates start at $650, you can redeem Marriott Bonvoy points to book a stay and save a ton of money. Marriott Bonvoy points can be earned in a variety of ways.

Meanwhile, a couple can find double occupancy rooms around 73,000 points per night.

If you’re a family looking to use cash, not points, to book a stay at the St. Regis Bermuda, you’ll be pleased to know that the resort offers The Residences at The St. Regis Bermuda, which offers a better value than the hotel itself when paying cash.

These much roomier units provide all the comforts of home, including a full kitchen, patio or deck, oceanfront views and a separate pool exclusively for guests of The Residences. These apartment-like units are perfect for guests seeking extra space that goes beyond a typical hotel room, all while enjoying the convenience of the hotel’s amenities just steps away.

Hot Tip:

Every card anniversary, Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® cardholders receive a free night award of up to 85,000 points. Since Amex and Chase are Marriott transfer partners, anyone having an 85,000-point free night certificate can top off their account with as low as 3,000 points and stay at the luxurious St. Regis Bermuda Resort.

3. Gorgeous Beach

I’ve visited a number of beachfront resorts where the hotel itself is beautiful but the beach has very strong waves that make swimming nearly impossible. In others, there’s a sargassum problem that discourages guests from taking a dip in the ocean.

St. Regis Bermuda Clean Beach
While not large, the beach at St. Regis Bermuda has clean sand and sparkling waters.

The St. Regis Bermuda has a beautiful beach directly on the property, with stunning turquoise waters that are so clear you can see your feet. Although not particularly large, resort guests are the primary users of this public beach. The beach boasts an abundance of lounge chairs and umbrellas, which are free for St. Regis guests.

Resort guests are entitled to an umbrella and chairs at the beach.

For those looking to venture beyond the resort and experience a change of scenery, the magnificent Tobacco Bay Beach is a 5-minute stroll away. Tobacco Bay is incredible for snorkeling, with pristine turquoise waters and calm waves that are suitable for individuals of all ages, including young children.

On our final day, we decided to check out Tobacco Bay, and it turned out to be a great choice. We rented water bikes and had a relaxing dip in the crystal-clear waters.

4. Delicious Food and Beverages

The St. Regis Bermuda Resort offers few dining options, but its offerings are excellent. Lina, the resort’s signature restaurant, serves breakfast and lunch. At night, the same space transforms into BLT Steak NY, and the hotel even changes the restaurant’s sign at the entrance.

Lina serves breakfast and lunch, while BLT Steak NY serves dinner. Both share the same dining space.

Despite the setting, the dining space works well, given the hotel’s small size, and even at full capacity, all guests can be accommodated for meals without requiring a reservation.

St. Regis Bermuda Lina First Room Inside
You can make a reservation ahead of time for dinner but you don’t really need to, as resort guests are always accommodated.

Guests can enjoy a delicious lunch at Lina or unwind by the pool or beach. The girls and I decided to try the catch of the day (red snapper on this day), which was also on the children’s menu.

Our fresh catch was tasty and flaky.

Meanwhile, my wife had the tuna tataki. Everyone was extremely pleased with their meals at Lina for lunch.

The tuna tataki was fresh and flavorful.

In the evening, we enjoyed a delicious dinner at BLT Steak NY, known for its mouthwatering steak and iconic BLT Popovers. These delectable Gruyere bread puffs are a signature treat served to all guests at BLT Steak NY locations. Everyone loved these.

These are addictive!

The beef cuts we had, including filet mignon, skirt steak, and T-bone, were all cooked to perfection.

For those who prefer a plant-based or pescatarian diet, BLT Steak NY also offers a variety of seafood and vegan food.

Our favorite dinner, however, was at The St. Regis Bar, which has a laid-back atmosphere and menu that includes tasty light bites and appetizers such as, sushi, chicken wings, and tacos.

St. Regis Bermuda St Regis Bar Seating Areas
I loved the casual setting of the The St. Regis Bar at the St. Regis Bermuda.

The St. Regis Bar, near the front desk, offers a choice of seating several sections. Guests can sit outside on the deck and enjoy the spectacular beach views.

St. Regis Bermuda Bar Outdoor Deck
You can order appetizers, sushi, and other delicious dishes while enjoying direct ocean and beach views.

Or guests can stay inside on an array of living room-style seating, good for families and groups.

The St. Regis Bar staff was incredibly friendly.

This is an ideal spot for guests and families who favor a casual dining experience and want to unwind with a cocktail or a glass of fine wine while savoring delicious light snacks.

The food and beverages at the resort may be on the pricier side, but they were of consistently exceptional quality during my stay.

5. Spacious and Varied Room Types

With a generous starting size of 647 square feet, the St. Regis Bermuda boasts some of the most spacious rooms among luxury hotels on the island.

St. Regis Bermuda Oceanfront 2 Queens Room
Rooms start at 647 square feet, which are some of the largest in Bermuda.

The resort offers 120 sophisticated guest rooms, including 21 luxurious suites. Every room — even a standard, limited-view room — comes with its own private balcony, offering stunning views of the ocean, golf course, or gardens.

St. Regis Bermuda Balcony
Rooms all feature some type of view — and most rooms have water views.

There are many rooms that are big enough to accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 kids to stay together comfortably. Even some standard rooms equipped with 2 queen beds and partial views can accomodate a family of 4.

St. Regis Bermuda 2 Queen Bed Room
Families can book a standard room with 2 queen beds or up for a suite or residence for more space.

If you need a little more space, the St. Regis Bermuda Resort has 21 suites available, each with their own floor plans and bed arrangements. However, If you’re traveling with family or a group of friends and want even more space and the comforts of home, The Residences at The St. Regis Bermuda are the most appealing room types.

St Regis Bermuda Residences Kitchen
The Residences at the St. Regis Bermuda come with full kitchens that resemble your home away from home.

These massive units come with a modern full kitchen, numerous bedrooms, a living room, and a stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean and resort from your private balcony.

St. Regis Bermuda Residences PatioBalcony
The Residences also have large patios or decks with direct ocean views.

One of the most appealing advantages of renting on The Residences side of the resort is the exclusive infinity pool that offers breathtaking views, providing a tranquil escape from the other guests.

An infinity pool on The Residences side arguably offers the nicest views at the resort.

Considering the hotel’s small footprint, the variety of accommodations surprised me, but the St. Regis Bermuda truly has a choice for any kind of traveler.

6. Butler Service

At St. Regis Resorts worldwide, guests are treated to the luxury of complimentary butler service, no matter which room type they choose to book. Butler service at St. Regis hotels has been a distinguished perk for the luxury brand’s guests for more than a century.

Your dedicated butler is at your service to unpack your bag upon arrival, bring you a cup of coffee or tea, and even press up to 2 garments per person, per day. While the idea of having a butler to handle various tasks may be appealing, I personally prefer to take care of most things on my own without burdening the butler with trivial requests.

However, the night before our departure, I asked my butler to confirm our airport transfer for the next morning. He reaffirmed the pickup time for the vehicle service to pick up my family and me, and said the driver was ready and waiting. He also asked if I needed help scheduling someone to bring our bags down. I was impressed by and appreciative of his attention to my itinerary and plans for the next day.

7. The Hotel Never Felt Crowded

During my visit, I turned across to my wife to see how I could best describe the hotel’s ambience and vibe, and she said it perfectly: “quiet luxury”. The hotel was at 100% occupancy, yet despite the fact that the property is small and all 120 rooms were occupied, the restaurants, pool, and beach were never too crowded to enjoy.

St. Regis Bermuda Beach Front Hotel Shot
When we visited, the resort was at full occupancy. Yet there was never a moment where it felt packed with guests.

Quite the contrary: We could still find our serenity at the resort, as it became clear that the majority of guests were couples yearning for a calm, romantic weekend or families wishing to relax and unwind.

St. Regis Bermuda Side Angle
The St. Regis Bermuda welcomes guests of all kinds, with couples and families making up the majority of visitors during our stay.

We went to breakfast at 9 a.m. one day, which is usually peak time for having breakfast at a hotel, and Lina was busy but not overwhelming. There was no wait to be seated indoors or outside with oceanfront views.

The same was true for the evening dining spots, BLT Steak NY and The St. Regis Bar,  which do not require reservations for hotel guests to enjoy a meal. The St. Regis Bermuda’s exclusivity and tranquil nature, even at full occupancy, provided a relaxed environment for us.

Final Thoughts

The St. Regis Bermuda provided my family and me with a serene and opulent experience, set against the backdrop of a stunning beach. The hotel excels at catering to families or couples looking for a peaceful retreat on the vibrant island of Bermuda.

When I return, I intend to stay at the St. Regis Bermuda Resort and book one of The Residences. This will give me lots of space compared to a standard hotel room, while still granting me access to all the resort’s amenities.
