Since I often travel with my wife and kids, we have used and abused a lot of bags over the years.

We’ve tried everything from softshell to hardshell checked and carry-on bags to backpacks and duffel bags. But recently, my wife had been looking for a replacement for her purse that could act as a catchall (and then subsequently overflow) during our trips.

She needed something sturdy that could attach to her rolling carry-on, resistant enough to handle international travel with kids but still spacious, and, of course, stylish.

So, when Away reached out asking if we wanted to test one of its bags, I jumped at the opportunity!

I have been an Away customer for years, and in my house we have Away carry-on bags in multiple sizes and colors, but our latest addition is a bit more versatile: The Everywhere Bag.

After a round-the-world trip, including many taxi rides, flights, and a cruise, this bag did indeed make things just a bit more seamless!

The Everywhere Bag is Away’s standard size for this style of silhouette/duffel bag. However, there are 2 larger sizes.

And it comes in a variety of colors, too! The bag in this review is navy blue.

The Everywhere Bag is the perfect compliment to a carry-on bag when traveling, but is versatile enough to be a work bag or even a gym bag.

The Overnight Bag

Capacity: 28 liters

The Overnight Bag gets a nice bump in capacity, which should be enough for most people on a quick overnight trip where you need to pack shoes and a change of clothes.

The Weekender

Dimensions: 20.9 x 11.8 x 9.4 inches

Capacity: 38 liters

The Weekender is the largest bag in the collection, with enough capacity to fit a few days’ worth of clothes inside of it.

The Everywhere Bag Real-Life Testing

My wife and I have been traveling nonstop for the past 2 months, and The Everywhere Bag has made every stop with us as we made our way around the world.

From Walt Disney World with the kids in tow to the rainy streets of Tokyo, this bag has seen its fair share of abuse and has taken it all in (sleek and stylish) stride.

Whether my wife is doing her best Mary Poppins impression and stuffing it with everything the family needs on an international flight or I have it securely attached to my carry-on bag (thanks to its convenient sleeve) rolling through the airport, The Everywhere Bag has been our go-to travel accessory lately.

Size and Compartments

The Everywhere Bag has a main compartment where the majority of the 20 liters of storage is allocated.

Thanks to a wraparound zipper, the bag opens almost completely by itself when unzipped, which makes packing and organizing easier.

Inside the bag are zipper and slip pockets, a water bottle pocket, and a detachable key clip to help keep your travel gear organized.

On the outside of the bag is a padded laptop sleeve that can hold a 15-inch laptop and closes with a magnetic zipper.

Also, on the outside is an almost secret zipper compartment just large enough for a wallet, passport, and cell phone — if they are thin enough.

Since the pocket is so well-hidden and the zipper is difficult to open discreetly, it is a good spot to store valuables that you might need throughout your journey.

Finally, the best feature is the trolley sleeve that lets the bag seamlessly slip over the handle of most carry-ons to make rolling the airport a breeze.

If you prefer a shoulder strap, a detachable one is included, as well.

Durability and Materials

The Everywhere Bag is made out of thick, water-resistant nylon with leather trim and is complemented with metal zippers and magnetic zipper pulls.

From the moment I took it out of the box, it was clear that this bag was sturdy and well-built. And coming from a company like Away, that wasn’t too surprising.

We have shoved this bag under seats, in overhead bins, in overpacked car trunks, subways, and more, and it still looks like it did the day it arrived.

Bottom Line:

The Everywhere Bag from Away is a high-quality, functional, and durable bag that makes a great addition to almost any travel setup.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I am really happy with the addition of The Everywhere Bag to our travel gear lineup. More importantly, my wife is happy with it, too!

Whether I have it slung over my shoulder for a quick overnight trip or she has it attached to her carry-on bag in the airport, the design and functionality work well for both of us.

Despite it not having a lifetime warranty, I don’t think I will be running into too many issues with this bag, thanks to its sturdy build and quality materials.
