Air France/KLM Flying Blue uses a region-based award chart. This means that destinations are designated as part of a specific region. To determine the number of miles required for an award booking, you will need to know the region of the destination and the origin.

While the regions that will apply to your bookings are often predictable, Air France/KLM Flying Blue does have some peculiarities that can actually be quite beneficial to you.

Air France/KLM Flying Blue Regions

Air France/KLM’s Flying Blue program provides some fun award booking opportunities thanks to its creative definition of the European region. Countries such as Israel and Morocco are both included in the region while many other airline loyalty programs classify them in the Middle East and North Africa, respectively.

Additionally, you’ll notice that Hawaii is included in the Central America region which can provide some clever award flight opportunities.

Hot Tip: If you book with Flying Blue miles, it doesn’t matter if you’re on a partner airline, the Flying Blue program rules apply to the booking.
