Even the best credit card perquisites are only useful if you actually use them the right way, and that applies to posh hotel stays, too.

Cardholders of the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ have a generous up to $500 hotel credit to take advantage of. The card offers 2 $250 credits that can be used whenever you want throughout the year, good for bookings made through The Edit on Chase Travel. This is a new benefit for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, which has long offered a $300 annual travel credit but not a hotel-specific credit.

This credit can make high-end stays more accessible, but there are a few details to know. This guide explains how the credit works, how to apply it to a booking, and how to stretch its value.

Adding a $500 luxury hotel credit is just one of the recent updates to the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, including entertainment, dining, transportation, and streaming credits — along with a higher annual fee. Note that cardmembers who applied for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card before June 23, 2025, are eligible for the new benefits as of October 26, 2025.

The Edit by Chase Travel: How the $500 Credit Works

The Edit is a collection of more than 1,000 luxury hotels and resorts worldwide, similar to The Hotel Collection and Fine Hotels + Resorts from American Express or the Premier Collection from Capital One.

When you book a stay of at least 2 nights through The Edit, you receive 2 up to $250 in statement credits each year, for a maximum of $500 in credits each calendar year (2 separate transactions of $250 are required with no per-night minimum requirement).

Booking with The Edit offers elite perks, even if you’re not a member of the hotel’s loyalty program. Benefits typically include:

  • $100 property credit
  • Daily breakfast for 2
  • Room upgrade when available
  • Early check-in and late checkout when available

Qualifying bookings must be prepaid. You don’t earn points on any portion of your stay covered by each $250 credit, but you do earn 8x points on any amount that exceeds the credit. For example, if you book a $350 stay, you get $250 back as a statement credit and earn 800 Chase Ultimate Rewards points on the remaining $100 charge.

How To Use The Edit Credit

Follow these steps to apply your credit when making Chase Travel bookings.

  • Log in to Chase Travel.
  • Scroll down past the search box to see featured properties from The Edit, or use the search function and look for properties designated as The Edit.
  • Book a prepaid stay of at least 2 nights, paying with your Chase Sapphire Reserve card or Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card.
  • Receive up to $250 as a statement credit ( you can also do 2 separate transactions of $250 to use both credits).
Hot Tip:

You must use your eligible card at checkout to trigger the credit.

The Edit has many high-end properties, but some offer price points close to the credit amount.

For example, you could stay at Park MGM Las Vegas for $273. After the $250 credit applies, you’d only have to pay $23 — and you’d get complimentary daily breakfast for 2, a $100 property credit, and the potential to check in early, check out late, and get a room upgrade.

Comparing Luxury Hotel Credits

The Chase Sapphire Reserve card and Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card aren’t the only cards with a hotel credit, though no other cards offer $500 annually toward hotel bookings.

With the Platinum Card® from American Express or The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, cardholders get an up to $600 annual credit for prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection bookings through AmexTravel.com. The latter requires at least a 2-night stay.

The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Venture X Business Card have an annual up to $300 Capital One Travel or Capital One Business Travel credit that can be used on hotels of any type.

Other options come from Citi. The Citi Strata Elite℠ Card offers $300 off a hotel stay of 2 nights or more when booked through Citi Travel, and the Citi Strata Premier® Card offers a $100 credit for a single hotel stay of $500 or more each year.

Many hotel co-branded credit cards also offer brand-specific credits or free night certificates. For more details, check out our recommendations for the best hotel credit cards.

Final Thoughts

The $500 credit for The Edit offers significant savings on luxury hotels and resorts with the Chase Sapphire Reserve card and Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card. It can help you stretch your travel budget while enhancing your stay with elite perks. For inspiration, check out the best hotels for maximizing your credit with The Edit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have to book through Chase Travel to use the credit for The Edit?

Yes, the credit only applies to prepaid hotel bookings through The Edit via the Chase Travel portal.

Can you combine the $250 The Edit credits into a $500 booking?

The credits can be used throughout the year (but 2 separate transactions of $250 are required).

Does a 2-night stay have to cost more than $250 to qualify for The Edit credit?

Most properties that qualify for The Edit cost at least $250 for a 2-night stay. If you can book a qualifying stay under $250, the credit will cover it, but you only receive a statement credit equal to the booking cost.

Can you use points for The Edit stays instead of paying cash?

Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be redeemed for The Edit stays, but the $250 credit doesn’t apply unless you pay with your Chase Sapphire Reserve card or Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card.
