Amex is celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Platinum Card® from American Express with special offers and experiences across travel, dining, retail, and more.

This card is extremely popular with travelers for good reason — and now, there are even more ways to get value out of it.

With limited-time Amex Offers, a 40% transfer bonus, free hotel nights, special Resy dining events, and Centurion Lounge cocktails, there is much to enjoy.

Let’s take a look at the details.

40 Years of the Platinum Card

The Amex Platinum card was first introduced in 1984 and has been a leader in the industry thanks to its elevated service and premium travel benefits.

To celebrate, Amex wants to give card members more of what they love — benefits and experiences!

“This summer we are taking a moment to thank our Platinum Card Members for their loyalty. Since its launch in 1984, the Platinum Card has set the bar for premium Cards, and it continues to do so today because we connect people to what they love,” said Howard Grosfield, president, U.S. consumer services at American Express.

Cardmembers have a lot of extra goodies to look forward to with this celebration — here’s what you can expect.

40 Nights of Platinum

From May 30 to September 26, 2024, Amex Platinum cardmembers can take part in 40 Nights of Platinum.

Members will have access to select Global Dining Access by Resy restaurants across the U.S., including hot spots such as Cocodaq in New York City and Dante BH in Los Angeles.

Centurion Lounges

Access to American Express Centurion Lounges is already one of the best perks of holding an Amex Platinum card. Now, visitors will get to try a new Platinum-themed cocktail to celebrate the 40th anniversary.

Mixologist Jim Meehan has created The Platinum 1984, which will be available to cardmembers visiting lounges this summer.

Treats may vary and are limited in quantity, so if you have the opportunity to stop at a Centurion Lounge in your travels, be sure to look out for this!

Premium Events

Amex Platinum cardmembers will also have exclusive access to curated events inside the Premium Events Collection™ (formerly known as By Invitation Only).

These experiences span across art, dining, fashion, sports, and more.

Third Night Free

If you’re looking for some extra and free travel benefits, look no further than Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection.

Amex Platinum card members can access a free third night at 200+ Amex FHR and The Hotel Collection Properties.

Members must book via AmexTravel.com to take advantage of this deal.
