Update: The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.
If you happen to have a trip to Europe coming up this fall or early winter that will bring you to Greece, you’ll want to listen up.
Greek carrier Aegean is offering 50% off economy tickets for a limited time — here’s a look at everything you should know about this promotion!
Get 50% off Aegean Economy Flights
If you book a round-trip or one-way Aegean ticket between now and October 23, 2022, you can receive 50% off the base fare and fuel surcharges on economy class tickets (the sale is not valid for business class tickets) for travel between November 7 and December 15, 2022.
However, the discount doesn’t apply to additional taxes and fees, which often make up a large portion of a ticket’s final price.
Here’s an example of what you can book with the sale:
As you can see, the discounted fares aren’t quite 50% of what the original price was, and that’s due to taxes/fees not being discounted.
And here are a few more details you should be aware of before you click “book:”
- The sale is valid only on Aegean or Olympic Air-operated flights. Codeshare flights are not eligible for the discount.
- The sale applies to all nonstop or connecting flights that operate to or from Greece, and to or from any international destination the airline flies.
- Changes to tickets are permitted; cost will depend on fare class.
- Refund terms depend on fare class.
- The offer ends at 11:59 p.m. Greek time on October 23, 2022.
Since the sale only applies to Aegean or Olympic Air-operated flights, this means that no long-haul flights are valid for this sale, limiting its appeal to European residents or those who happen to be visiting at the right time.
Hot Tip: To learn more about Aegean Airlines, read about what it was like to fly with the airline — and bid successfully for a business class upgrade!
It’s not likely that all too many North Americans would take advantage of a deal like this because Aegean doesn’t fly long-haul routes on its own metal, which means the sale is limited to those who are already in Europe. Plus, it’s not exactly hot in Greece in November and December and we have warmer destinations close by in the Caribbean or Mexico, for example.
But, if you happen to be visiting Europe during this promotion’s travel window, and you need a way to get to or from Greece, this seems like a good sale to take advantage of.
The discounts aren’t jaw-dropping by any means, but we’ll take a discount on airfare any day of the week.
