Do you have a stash of Air Canada Aeroplan points that you don’t want or need to use for booking flights? You may be interested in a promotion that can give you up to 30,000 points back on hotel stays or car rentals when you use Aeroplan points to book.

Here’s what you should know.

Promotion Details

You can get up to 30,000 Aeroplan points back when you redeem points for hotels and car rentals booked via Air Canada.

You can get 10,000 points back on redemptions of 40,000 points or more and 25,000 points back on redemptions of 100,000 points or more.

Members who hold an Aeroplan® Credit Card are eligible to get an additional 5,000 bonus points back per transaction, bringing the possible total up to 30,000 points.

To take advantage of this promotion, you’ll first need to register at this link. Then, you’ll be able to book from the same page. Note that reservations must be made by April 13, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. PST, and the promotion is valid for stays and/or qualifying car rentals through September 30, 2025.

There’s an interesting perk for Aeroplan cardholders, as well. You can enjoy a fourth night free when you book 3 hotel nights using Aeroplan points under this promotion.

Keep in mind that you will have to pay taxes and fees on those bookings and that your bonus Aeroplan points will be credited to your account within 10 weeks of the stay or rental’s completion.

Is It Worth It?

Is this promotion hot enough to warrant using Aeroplan points instead of cash for a hotel stay or car rental?

It depends. We value Air Canada Aeroplan points at 1.5 cents each, so if you spent 100,000 points on a redemption and got 30,000 back, your effective spending would be 70,000 points, equivalent to $1,050. Compare that to the cash cost of your hotel stay or car rental to figure out whether it makes sense for you to go with points or not.

Aeroplan points are relatively easy to earn, though, since the program is an American ExpressCapital One, Chase, and Marriott transfer partner.

Final Thoughts

This is a decent promotion for those planning to use Aeroplan points for something other than flights on Air Canada or the program’s many partner airlines.

That said, consider carefully the value of your points when deciding whether you’re better off booking a hotel stay or car rental with cash instead.
