Update: The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

Have you been looking for a way to build up your balance of Air Canada Aeroplan points? Sure, you could always transfer some in from one of Aeroplan’s transfer partners, but Air Canada has just launched a new promotion that’ll make this even easier to do for those based in Ontario.

Let’s take a look at the offer details and whether it’s something worth taking advantage of.

Promotion Details

This promotion is fairly limited — you’ll only earn these bonus points when flying in or out of the province of Ontario. Still, if you’re based in the area or can quickly make it over, it may be worth doing.

Air Canada Ontario promotion

  • Valid for flights between Ontario and the U.S. or another Canadian destination
  • Earn bonus points on round-trip flights
    • Book and fly 2 times: Earn 5,000 points
    • Book and fly a third time: Earn 7,500 more points
    • Book and fly 4+ times: Earn 2,000 more points
  • You must register for the promotion
  • Book flights by June 7, 2023
  • Valid for flights through December 31, 2023

Maximize your earnings by charging your flight to the Aeroplan® Credit Card to earn 3x points on Air Canada purchases, or consider one of our recommended travel cards to earn up to 5x points/miles when booking airfare.

Is It Worth It?

Is this promotion hot enough to warrant heading on over to Ontario? Probably not. We value Air Canada Aeroplan points at 1.5 cents each, which means if you maximized this promotion by flying just 3 round-trip flights, you’d end up with $187.50 worth of points — probably not worth detouring in order to take advantage of.

Still, if you’re already planning on some trips to Ontario this year, you’ll want to register for this promotion. The best part about it is that it covers travel through the end of the year as long as you book by June, so that’s a pretty wide window to figure out what you’ll be doing.

Final Thoughts

This is a decent promotion for those who already have upcoming travel to or from Ontario. After all, everyone loves free bonus points.

That being said, it isn’t lucrative enough for anyone who isn’t local to make plans to take an extra trip, especially when eligible flights for this promotion are fairly limited. If this promotion works for you, be sure to register and book before June 7, 2023, to claim your bonus points.
