Alaska Airlines has raised the bar for premium travel in the Pacific Northwest, and Portland flyers are the ones reaping the benefits.

The airline has just opened its brand-new lounge at Portland International Airport (PDX) on June 4, 2026. The new space is a major upgrade from other lounges at the airport, and it’s part of a broader investment Alaska Airlines is making in its lounge network across the West Coast.

Alaska Airlines’ New Portland Lounge

The new PDX lounge in Concourse C is hard to miss on paper. At approximately 14,000 square feet, it’s about twice the size of the existing Portland lounge in Concourse C, and that extra space should make for a better guest experience.

The design leans into Pacific Northwest heritage in a way that feels intentional, rather than gimmicky. There’s an inviting fireplace, high open ceilings that flood the space with natural light, and a striking wooden Mt. Hood mural created by artist Ben Butler. With views into PDX’s new terminal, it genuinely feels like a space rooted in the region.

The lounge offers more than 230 seats, including Alaska’s Signature Loungers — the full-recline chairs that are a standout feature across Alaska’s lounge network. There are also private booths designed for calls and meetings, along with ample power outlets throughout.

On the food and beverage side, guests can expect fresh, regionally inspired food and barista-crafted coffee and specialty beverages. The bar features West Coast-inspired cocktails from local partners — a nice touch that ties the experience back to Portland.

Alaska Airlines invested nearly $18 million into this new lounge, and from what we can see so far, that investment shows.

Why Portland, Why Now?

Alaska Airlines is the largest carrier at PDX, operating more than 100 daily departures and serving over 60 destinations. The airline has been aggressively growing its Portland presence by adding new routes to Baltimore (BWI); Bellingham (BLI), Washington; Idaho Falls (IDA), Idaho; Philadelphia (PHL); and St. Louis (STL) just last month, plus more seasonal service launching this summer.

By fall 2026, the carrier will offer 50% more seats out of Portland than it did just 2 years ago. A lounge upgrade of this scale makes sense alongside that kind of growth.

This PDX lounge is also part of a larger portfolio push. Alaska recently announced a 41,000-square-foot lounge in Seattle (SEA) coming in 2027, plus new lounges in San Diego (SAN) and Honolulu (HNL) slated for early 2028.

Lounge Location and Hours

The new lounge is at the top of Concourse C, just after security, located near gates C4 and C5. It’s open from 4:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily.

How To Access the Lounge

Access to the new PDX lounge is available to Alaska Lounge members, Alaska Lounge+ members, eligible first class guests, and eligible Oneworld and partner airline passengers.

If you’re considering a membership, Alaska Lounge+ is worth a look. It gets you into all 8 Alaska-operated lounges plus nearly 90 partner lounges worldwide.

Hot Tip:

If you want access to Alaska Airlines lounges, the Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® card could be a good addition to your wallet. That’s because it comes with annual lounge passes that you can use to visit the lounge before your flight, even if you don’t have elite status with the airline.

Final Thoughts

The new Alaska Airlines Lounge at PDX in Concourse C looks like a genuine step up for one of the airline’s most important West Coast hubs. Between the size, the design, and the regional touches, this is the kind of lounge investment that actually moves the needle for travelers.
