Update:The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

American Express has introduced a new Amex Offer, and it is an incredibly easy way to earn cash-back in exchange for little effort. When you make a purchase over $40 using Apple Pay linked to your eligible, enrolled American Express card, you’ll receive $5 cash-back. Many people use Apple Pay daily without even thinking about it, so this offer is very easy to take advantage of — here’s what you need to know.

Amex Offers

Amex Offers can be found on both the American Express website and through the Amex mobile app. You’ll need to click on each card that you have, and then you’ll see any offers you were targeted for, which could be available on one, all, or none of your cards. If this offer is available on multiple cards, choose the card that will earn you the highest cash-back for your purchases.

Offer Details

You’ll need to first ensure that your card with the offer on it is linked to your Apple Wallet on your iPhone. This is a very easy step to do, but it’s required or else you won’t be able to use Apple Pay. Once it’s hooked up, you simply need to charge transactions over $40 via Apple Pay to that card, and then you’ll receive a $5 statement credit. It’s as simple as that. You can repeat this offer 3 times, for a total of $15 back.

The offer expires on January 1, 2024, and like all Amex Offers, it’s usually suggested to have all required transactions post by that date, as opposed to charged by that date.

The Apple Pay purchases can be done online or in-store, but it needs to be done within the U.S., Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Purchases made in foreign countries while traveling won’t count, but that won’t impact too many users. You’ll want to make sure your purchases are actually done as Apple Pay, because if they’re not, your transactions won’t count.

Hot Tip:

If you have multiple cards linked to Apple Pay, make sure you use the one enrolled in the Amex Offer in order to trigger the credit. Using other cards won’t count, even though it’s very easy to switch between cards within Apple Pay.

Final Thoughts

Check your Amex Cards, because this is a super easy Amex Offer to get $5 back for doing something you likely already do anyway. Make sure you link up your Amex Cards to Apple Pay and use that eligible card for this offer or you won’t receive the credit.
