In case you missed it, Amex’s most premium consumer card got a giant update last week. The Platinum Card® from American Express now packs in more benefits than ever — without losing a single perk it already had.

While the higher annual fee of $895 (rates & fees) can certainly sting, cardholders have a limited-time opportunity to offset up to $175 in value right now.

All it takes is utilizing 2 newly added “use-it-or-lose-it” credits before September 30, 2025. Here’s everything you need to know.

Amex Platinum Card Adds New lululemon and Resy Credits

Amex just gave the card a major refresh, stacking on new perks across travel, dining, entertainment, and more. While the annual fee went up by $200 to $895 for new applicants, it’s important to know that the increase won’t kick in until cardmember renewal dates on or after December 2, 2025.

In the meantime, all of the newly added benefits were made immediately available to both new and existing cardholders.

Keep in mind that each statement credit comes with its own rules; some reset annually, others semi-annually, etc. The newly added lululemon and Resy credits (which require enrollment) are issued quarterly. Since the refresh was just announced on Thursday, September 18, cardholders have only a short window before Q3 wraps up on September 30:

  • $300 annual lululemon credit: Get up to $75 in statement credits per quarter after you enroll and use your Amex Platinum card to pay for eligible purchases at U.S. lululemon stores (excluding outlets) or online (excluding outlets), for a total of up to $300 in statement credits per year.
  • $400 annual Resy credit: Get up to $100 in statement credits each quarter when using your Amex Platinum card to make eligible purchases with Resy, including dining purchases at over 10,000 U.S. Resy restaurants (as of March 2025).

As these quarterly credits do not roll over, you have exactly 1 week to enroll in these benefits and go make an eligible purchase at lululemon and Resy before they expire on Tuesday, September 30. (For Resy, you don’t need to make a reservation on the platform beforehand — it’s as simple as paying for your meal at any U.S. restaurant on Resy with your Amex Platinum card.)

By utilizing these 2 credits alone, you can unlock up to $175 of additional value in the next few days. Combined, these 2 credits alone provide up to $700 in ongoing cardholder value every year, and that’s before utilizing any of the travel benefits or even the ubiquitous points-earning opportunities offered by the card.

Officially, it can take up to 8 weeks for Amex to post the statement credit to your account. However, in practice (and nearly 10 years of Amex card membership), I’ve never waited longer than 1 week.

Hot Tip: Apply and find out if you’re eligible for a welcome bonus offer of as high as 175,000 points with the Amex Platinum. Welcome offers may vary and you may not be eligible for an offer.

Is the New Amex Platinum Card Worth It?

Let’s take my very own cardmember anniversary as an example. I paid my $695 renewal on August 20, 2025 — locking in that lower rate in for a full year.

By using the Q3 lululemon and Resy credits, I captured the full up-to-$175 in value right away. I’ll also be able to redeem these quarterly credits again in Q4 2025, Q1 2026, Q2 2026, and Q3 2026. That adds up to $875 in statement credits from just these 2 perks — far more than the $695 annual fee I paid this year.

Even when my renewal hits $895 in August 2026, the value is still there for me since I shop at lululemon regularly and often dine at Resy-affiliated restaurants.

That said, there’s another opportunity with the enhanced hotel credit. Cardholders now receive up to $600 annually — split into $300 semi-annual credits — for prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts® or The Hotel Collection bookings through AmexTravel.com (minimum 2-night stay required for The Hotel Collection).

In other words, you have until December 31, 2025, to use your semi-annual allotment of up to $300. Then, on January 1, 2026, you can receive another up to $300 credit, then another starting on July 1, 2026.
