Update:

An American Express spokesperson provided the following statement to clarify the change that is coming to Resy dining credits in August: “We have added a Resy Credit eligible badge to Resy venues pages to provide additional clarity to diners at the time of booking. We have not removed Resy venues that are eligible today and will be adding more eligible venues later this year when Tock venues become bookable on Resy.”

If you have an American Express card that features a Resy dining credit, you’ll notice a change later this summer.

Starting August 1, 2026, the Resy app will begin displaying a badge to let cardmembers know which restaurants are eligible for dining credits.

Initially, this change was understood as an unfortunate restriction of these popular dining credits, but the issuer has since clarified its rationale.

Let’s take a look at the details.

You’ll Soon Notice a Small Change With Your Amex Resy Credits

American Express is adding a badge to designate which restaurants are eligible for Resy credits offered on several high-end cards.

Starting August 1, 2026, U.S. restaurants and other food and beverage establishments must be indicated as eligible for the Resy credit on the Resy website or the Resy mobile app at the time of purchase to qualify for the benefit.

Initially, many thought this meant Amex would be removing eligible restaurants for cardmembers. But the issuer has since clarified that all the restaurants currently available will remain available after August 1. In fact, the issuer will add more venues as it makes select Tock (another platform owned by Amex) restaurants available for booking through Resy later this year.

Eligible restaurants will be indicated on their booking page and in the Resy app, and the eligibility list is subject to change at any time. Despite confirmation that Resy venues aren’t being taken away, it’s good to double-check your favorite restaurant before making a reservation.

Which Amex Cards Have Resy Credits?

Resy is one of the largest dining reservation platforms in the world and was acquired by American Express back in 2019. Since then, Amex has introduced dining credits on some of its premium cards, including:

Enrollment is required for this benefit on some cards.

This perk has become one of the more popular lifestyle benefits for card members who like dining out. That’s especially true for those with an Amex Platinum card in their wallet, who receive up to $400 in Resy credit annually, available in increments of up to $100 per quarter.

Hot Tip:

The Amex Platinum card has a long list of benefits that we value at more than $7,500. That’s perfect for the traveler who wants some extra lifestyle perks.

Final Thoughts

Amex is making a small change to Resy credits as it builds out its dining platform, adding a way for cardmembers to confirm that the restaurant they’d like to dine at is eligible to use these credits.

Starting August 1, 2026, you’ll begin to see badges on credit-eligible restaurants as more venues come into the Amex fold. While you can expect to use the credits at all the same restaurants you can today, it doesn’t hurt to double-check before confirming your table.
