American Express is about to tighten one of the more flexible and popular credits on its premium cards.

Starting August 1, 2026, the Resy dining credit on select Amex cards will apply only to restaurants designated as eligible in the Resy app.

This will add an extra hurdle for card members looking to maximize their credits, and the list of eligible restaurants is subject to change at any time.

Let’s take a look at the details.

The Amex Resy Credit Is About To Get Less Flexible

American Express is changing the Resy credits on popular Amex cards by restricting them to select restaurants, as first flagged by Doctor of Credit.

Starting August 1, 2026, U.S. restaurants and other food and beverage establishments must be indicated as eligible for the Resy credit on the Resy website or the Resy mobile app at the time of purchase to qualify for the benefit.

Right now, all restaurants on Resy seem like they’re eligible for the credit, which is expected before the August 1 cut-off. However, after August 1, only restaurants designated by Amex and Resy as participating will trigger the Resy credit.

Eligible restaurants will be indicated on their booking page and in the Resy app, and the eligibility list is subject to change at any time. If you frequent a Resy restaurant, be sure to confirm it’s still eligible before making your reservation.

Which Amex Cards Have Resy Credits?

Resy is one of the largest dining reservation platforms in the world and was acquired by American Express back in 2019. Since then, Amex has introduced dining credits on some of its premium cards, including:

Enrollment is required for this benefit on some cards.

This perk has become one of the more popular lifestyle benefits for card members who like dining out. That’s especially true for those with an Amex Platinum card in their wallet, who receive up to $400 in Resy credit annually, available as up to $100 per quarter.

Hot Tip:

The Amex Platinum card has a long list of benefits that we value at more than $7,500. That’s perfect for the traveler who wants some extra lifestyle perks.

Final Thoughts

Amex is making changes to its popular Resy credit, and while we wouldn’t consider this a major devaluation, it is a move in the wrong direction — making credits harder for card members to use.

Starting August 1, 2026, be sure to confirm that your favorite restaurants are still eligible before dining, so you don’t lose out on your credits.
