Arajet, the low-cost airline headquartered in the Dominican Republic, recently began U.S. operations. It is now expanding rapidly with its fifth U.S. city, Chicago (ORD).

Here’s what you need to know.

Arajet Expands to the Midwest

Arajet announced on May 20 that it would start flights to its fifth U.S. city, Chicago (ORD). The airline will launch flights between Chicago and Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) on November 15. The new route is Arajet’s first in the Midwest.

With the new route, Arajet now serves 5 U.S. destinations: Boston (BOS), Chicago, Miami (MIA), Newark (EWR), and San Juan (SJU). Arajet will fly between ORD and PUJ three times weekly, operating on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

“Flying to Chicago O’Hare International Airport, one of the most important airports in the world, represents an exciting new chapter for Arajet as we increase our presence to a total of five key U.S. cities,” said Victor Pacheco, Arajet’s founder and CEO. “This expansion opens the skies to Punta Cana by connecting U.S. travelers directly to one of the most desirable vacation spots in the Caribbean.”

Bottom Line:

Arajet has been on a roll lately. The airline recently announced nonstop flights from Boston to Santo Domingo’s Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) starting on November 20, plus Newark to SDQ this summer. Customers can use Arajet to connect to other destinations across the Caribbean and South America. Arajet’s route map includes destinations like Buenos Aires (EZE), São Paulo (GRU), and Mexico City (MEX).

Booking Arajet’s New Flights to Chicago

Arajet is joining a crowded market at ORD for flights to Punta Cana. American Airlines and United Airlines fly daily to Punta Cana, and Frontier offers seasonal flights there.

Still, Arajet’s low-cost model may prove enticing for customers who want to save money. And you can save even more money with Arajet’s new promo code HolaChicago the airline is using to launch the route.

For instance, we’re seeing flights between Chicago and Punta Cana for just $317 round-trip in November. In comparison, flights on mainline carriers like American and United cost more than $500 round-trip for the same dates.

However, given Arajet’s low-cost model, you may pay more, depending on your ticket. Arajet offers 3 fare types: smart, comfort, and extra. A smart fare gets you little more than a personal item and the ability to check in online.

Final Thoughts

Arajet is continuing its growth in the U.S. with an exciting route connecting Chicago and Punta Cana. While this route is served by several airlines, Arajet’s lower fares are certainly enticing. Make sure to use the promo code HolaChicago for lower fares!
