Avelo is firmly putting Wilmington, Delaware (ILG) on its route map.

The ultra-low-cost start-up is almost tripling the number of destinations served from the airport by adding 9 new nonstop routes this summer.

Additionally, the services span 5 states up and down, focusing on popular East Coast vacation spots such as Daytona Beach, Myrtle Beach, Savannah, and even Nashville.

“We are pleased with the enthusiastic reception Avelo has received since our airline took flight here in February,” said Andrew Levy, CEO at Avelo Airlines. “Based on this initial customer response to our first 5 Florida routes, we are excited to bring Wilmington these 9 new routes to several of our most popular East Coast destinations.”

Here’s everything you need to know about this exciting development at Delaware’s only airport.

One of the most interesting new routes is Avelo’s Wilmington, Delaware, to Wilmington, North Carolina, service. Just last month, rival carrier Breeze Airways launched a new route between Charleston, South Carolina, and Charleston, West Virginia.

Once Avelo’s new flights to Melbourne and Savannah have inaugurated, the total number of destinations available to fly to — and only with Avelo — from Wilmington will be 14. Finally, Avelo operates a fleet made of entirely Boeing 737 aircraft with all economy seating in a 3-3 configuration.

Bottom Line:

Avelo is an ambitious ultra-low-cost carrier who is determined to provide connections between underserved cities across the United States. Check out our full guide for everything you need to know, including Avelo’s seats, amenities, and baggage fees.

Final Thoughts

Avelo is the regional gift that keeps on giving.

Until the airline’s first arrival in Wilmington in February 2023, citizens of Delaware had to travel out of state to hop on a commercial flight.

Just a few months later, and Avelo will have opened up nonstop travel opportunities to 14 destinations.

We can’t wait to see what the rest of 2023 has in store for Avelo!
