Through November 17, 2025, you can buy Southwest Airlines points with up to a 50% discount for award travel using your points.

Buying Southwest Rapid Rewards points is nothing new, and we see sales on these points several times a year. However, this sale is different because it adds a future flight discount.

There are some caveats to consider before getting too excited about the award travel discount, but it’s still an interesting promotion that could be enticing for many people. Here’s how it works.

Current Promotion to Buy Southwest Points

The opportunity to purchase Southwest points with a bonus or discount arises frequently. The best deal is typically buying points with a 50% discount, which you can currently do.

Through November 17, 2025, you can purchase Rapid Rewards points with up to a 50% discount, but some members may receive a different offer. If you have the 50% discount in your account, you can purchase up to 60,000 points at 1.5 cents each.

You’ll need to purchase at least 3,000 points for the discount to kick in. Otherwise, you’ll pay 3 cents per point. Purchases are available at this link.

We value Southwest points at 1.3 cents each, so buying them at 1.5 cents doesn’t make sense. It usually only adds up if you’re just a few points short of a redemption or if you have the Companion Pass, essentially doubling the value of your points when you redeem them.

Purchasing the maximum of 60,000 points costs $900, assuming you have the 50% discount offer.

Adding a Future Flight Discount

The unique aspect of this current sale is that it offers a discount when redeeming Rapid Rewards points in the future. You need to purchase at least 3,000 points to unlock this part of the promotion.

Members who purchase points during the current sale receive up to a 20% discount when redeeming points for Basic and Choice fares. This applies to reservations made between December 1, 2025, and April 30, 2026.

Your exact discount amount will vary, and this offer is only applicable to domestic flights.

Eligible customers will receive a promotion code to use in the future after buying points during this sale, and discounts can vary by destination, route, and travel date.

Bottom Line:

If you purchase at least 3,000 points during the current sale, you’ll get a code to use on a future reservation booked with points. It could be up to a 20% discount, although it may be less, depending on the booking.

Final Thoughts

Southwest Rapid Rewards is currently running an interesting, targeted promotion. Customers can purchase points at a 50% discount, reducing the price to 1.5 cents per point. What sets this offer apart is the future promotion, which reduces the number of points needed for an award ticket by up to 20%.
