One of the easiest ways to improve your hotel stay across multiple brands is through a status match. Now, one of the easiest hotel status matches is going away, thanks to a change from Wyndham Rewards.

Presently, anyone with Wyndham Rewards elite status — no matter how you earned it — can match to Caesars Rewards elite status. That will go away early next year.

Here’s what you should know.

Wyndham Status Match to Caesars Won’t Include Credit Cards

Presently, you can get automatic, complimentary elite status in the Wyndham Rewards program just by holding one of its co-branded credit cards issued by Barclays. In fact, the Wyndham Rewards® Earner℠ Business Card offers top-tier Wyndham Diamond status just for holding the card.

Through a partnership with Caesars Rewards, it’s possible to match your Wyndham Diamond status to Caesars Diamond for elite perks at properties like Caesars Palace, Circus Circus, Harrah’s, Planet Hollywood Las Vegas, Tropicana Atlantic City, and more.

Prior to 2022, it was possible to match your Wyndham status to Caesars and then later rematch from Caesars back to Wyndham, given that their status years don’t reset on the same dates. However, in 2022, Caesars put an end to that by requiring you to get your Wyndham status in an official method — not just from a hotel status match. Until now, holding Wyndham elite status from a credit card counted among the available methods.

Now, the requirements are even tougher. On Wyndham’s partner page for Ceasars Rewards, there’s a new message:

Please note: Beginning February 1, 2025, Wyndham Rewards cardholders will no longer be able to match their Wyndham Rewards PLATINUM and DIAMOND Member Level obtained as a result of being a cardholder (as opposed to earning their member level through stays) into the Caesars Rewards program.

Thus, starting on February 1, 2025, you’ll need to earn Wyndham status through stays. Top-tier Diamond status requires staying 40 nights per year, while Platinum requires just 15 nights.

Hot Tip:

If you have Wyndham status and haven’t matched it to Caesars Rewards, you still can match and enjoy a few perks before the Caesars Rewards status year resets on February 1, 2025. You can read about the elite benefits and submit your match request here.

Final Thoughts

Starting on February 1, 2025, matching your complimentary Wyndham status — earned from holding a credit card, not from hotel stays — into Caesars Rewards will go away. Many people loved this perk for the benefits it offered in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, onward status matches into other casino programs, and yearly benefits that followed.
