Missed the limited-time 100,000-point welcome offer on the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card? Your next best chance of 2025 might be here with its current setup.

One of our favorite travel credit cards features an excellent welcome bonus offer. Eligible Chase Sapphire Preferred card applicants can earn 75,000 bonus points — up from the regular 60,000 points — after spending $5,000 on the card in the first 3 months of account opening.

With so many premium credit cards debuting on the market recently — and eye-watering annual fees and minimum spend requirements to match — the Chase Sapphire Preferred card feels like a refreshing option. If you don’t want to spend a ton of money to earn a welcome bonus, this is easily the best Chase travel credit card for moderate spending.

Here’s how the Chase Sapphire Preferred card can deliver a ton of value in the first year of account opening.

Earn and Redeem 75,000 Bonus Points (Worth $1,500+)

The Chase Sapphire Preferred card is our recommendation for a travel rewards card if you want to earn high-value points with a reasonable annual fee. It last offered a record-breaking 100,000-point welcome bonus offer in May 2025, but don’t worry if you missed it. This ongoing standard welcome bonus offer is still a strong contender.

New applicants can score the following welcome bonus offer, which is worth $1,500 for travel:

  • Earn 75,000 points after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months.

Even if you missed the 100,000-point welcome bonus offer, there’s no telling when (or if) it’ll return. The current 75,000-point welcome offer is still fantastic, especially when you factor in the points you’ll earn while meeting the minimum spend requirement. At a minimum, that’s an extra 5,000 points, with the potential for more if your purchases fall into bonus categories like 5x on Chase Travel or 3x on dining.

While other travel credit cards continue to increase their annual fee in exchange for perks and statement credits, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card remains down-to-earth with a $95 annual fee. It’s safe to say that the incredible value of this welcome bonus offer more than offsets this yearly membership charge.

Chase Ultimate Rewards points are worth 2 cents each according to our valuations. That’s double the value you can expect from a typical cash-back credit card, where 1 point is worth 1 cent when cashed out.

Hot Tip:

With an impressive lineup of transfer partners, including more domestic airlines than any other program (United, JetBlue, and Southwest) and strong hotel options like Hyatt, IHG, and Marriott, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card lets you move your points where you need them, and more importantly, when you need them.

Maximize 5x and 2x Bonus Categories (Value Varies)

Speaking of earning points, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card earns a lot of Ultimate Rewards points:

  • 5x points on all travel booked via the Chase Travel portal
  • 3x points on dining purchases, online grocery purchases, and select streaming services
  • 2x points on all other travel worldwide
  • 1x points on all other eligible purchases

In recent years, it’s become increasingly common for credit card issuers to offer bonus points for travel booked through their portals — after all, they earn a cut from each booking. Still, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card delivers strong value no matter how you book travel. You’ll earn 5x points on bookings via Chase Travel and 2x on all other travel purchases, making it a versatile, catch-all card for nearly any travel expense.

Hot Tip:

You can earn 3x points on online grocery purchases with the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, but this bonus category is more generous than you may think. Read our guide on leveraging this bonus category at most supermarkets, such as Publix and Kroger, even though you may not technically be grocery shopping online.

Annual Hotel Statement Credit (Worth up to $50)

The Chase Sapphire Preferred card offers a $50 annual hotel credit, applicable to bookings made through the Chase Travel portal. This credit is awarded each cardmember anniversary, allowing you to recoup up to $50 in value during your first year of membership and beyond.

DoorDash Credit (Worth up to $120)

Beyond all of the travel benefits, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card allows you to activate a complimentary DoorDash membership for at least 1 year to get free delivery and lower service fees when activated by December 31, 2027.

In addition to this membership, cardholders enjoy a $10 monthly credit on non-restaurant orders. From supermarkets to pet stores, there are many ways to utilize this DoorDash credit, worth up to $120 per year.

Final Thoughts

The Chase Sapphire Preferred card features a solid standard welcome offer. After meeting the minimum spend requirements, eligible applicants can earn 75,000 bonus points instead of 60,000 points and unlock a suite of travel benefits for an affordable annual fee.
