Update:

The offer information mentioned below has expired as is no longer available.

One of our favorite travel rewards cards, the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, has a new and improved welcome bonus offer. In fact, this popular credit card has never offered such a unique combination of bonus points and a travel credit before.

Here’s a full look at the details of the new welcome offer and how much value you can get from it, along with details of the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, so you can decide if it is the right card to help you reach your travel goals.

Chase Sapphire Preferred Card Welcome Offer Details

Newly approved cardholders of the Chase Sapphire Preferred card can earn 60,000 bonus points and a $300 Chase Travel credit after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.

The previous welcome bonus offered just 60,000 bonus points, and now, you’ll receive an additional $300 credit for any purchases made through Chase Travel for the same minimum spend requirement.

Bottom Line:

We value Chase Ultimate Rewards points at 2.0 cents per point, giving this welcome bonus an incredible value of $1,500 when you combine the value of the points and travel credit.

Chase Sapphire Preferred Card Benefits

While the welcome bonus offer is great and offers new cardholders quite a lot of value, here is a look at what else the travel credit card brings to the table. When it comes to earning points, you’ll get:

  • 5x points on travel purchased through Chase Travel
  • 5x points Lyft (through March 31, 2025)
  • 3x points on online grocery store orders, select streaming services, and dining
  • 2x points on all other travel purchases

Additionally, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card comes with a $50 annual hotel credit on bookings made through Chase Travel, primary rental car insurance, trip delay insurance, baggage delay insurance, purchase protection, and you’ll even receive a 10% bonus on your annual spend as bonus points on your account anniversary.

Once you’re ready to redeem your points, you can redeem 60,000 points for cash-back at a rate of 1 cent per point to get $600 in value. Alternatively, you can receive a 25% bonus when redeeming them through Chase Travel at a rate of 1.25 cents per points for $750 in value.

That said, our favorite way to redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards points is through the Chase transfer partners where you can receive significantly more value booking hotel stays through World of Hyatt, or flights with partners like Air France-KLM Flying Blue, Air Canada Aeroplan, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, and more.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve been considering adding the Chase Sapphire Preferred card to your wallet, now is a great time to do so while the new welcome offer has improved. Put simply, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card is an excellent card overall, given its earning, benefits, and redemption options.
