Update:

The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

If you’re not familiar with Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, you should be because the airline has plenty of partners and excellent redemption opportunities.

Citi has just launched a new promotion allowing cardmembers to transfer their Citi ThankYou Points to Virgin Points with a 30% bonus.

This is the type of promotion that can help unlock some of our favorite bucket list flights. Let’s take a look at the details of this offer.

Virgin Atlantic Transfer Bonus Details

Citi ThankYou Points typically transfer to Virgin Points at a 1:1 ratio. With this promotion, you’ll be able to transfer them over at a 1:1.3 ratio through November 16, 2024.

Citi is not Virgin Atlantic’s only transfer partner, but with the bonus, it is one of the best. Other transfer partners include American Express Membership RewardsBilt RewardsCapital One MilesChase Ultimate Rewards, and Marriott Bonvoy. All of these, with the exception of Marriott Bonvoy, normally transfer to Virgin Atlantic at a 1:1 ratio. Marriott Bonvoy, meanwhile, transfers at a 3:1 ratio with a 5,000-mile bonus for every 60,000 points you transfer.

Is It Worth It?

The short answer is a resounding “yes.” Virgin Atlantic Flying Club has some of the best redemptions around, including the ability to book ANA’s business class “The Room” starting at just 57,500 points one-way.

You’re not just limited to airline redemptions, however, as points accrued in the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club program can be transferred directly to Virgin Red once you’ve linked your accounts. These Virgin Points can then be used for a variety of different purposes.

For example, Virgin Red is running a promotion allowing you to book a cruise with Virgin Voyages for as few as 140,000 points.

The cash cost of these cruises tends to be around $5,500 — meaning you’d be redeeming those Citi ThankYou Points at a rate of 7.88 cents each. Considering we value Citi ThankYou Points at just 1.6 cents each, this is an amazing deal.

Final Thoughts

Citi’s 30% transfer bonus from ThankYou Points to Virgin Points is an excellent promotion.

Whether you’d like to redeem your points for a business class suite or aboard an adults-only cruise, there’s no reason not to take advantage of this offer. If you plan to do so, just be sure to do so before November 16.
