Update:The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

If you plan on flying Southwest Airlines anytime soon, Costco has an amazing deal for you. The warehouse wholesaler chain is again offering $500 Southwest Airlines eGift cards for only $429.99, a $70 savings.

Discounted Southwest Gift Cards

These Southwest gift cards are purchased electronically on Costco’s website, so the purchase is instantly delivered to your email once you purchase it. The gift cards normally sell for $449.99, down from $500, but Costco is offering an extra $20 off through June 25, 2023. If you don’t purchase your card by then, you can still take advantage of decent savings, but you’ll need to purchase the card for $449.99.

The gift cards can be used for any Southwest airfare, and you can use each card multiple times until you use up the value stored on it.

Discount Only for Costco Members

In order to be eligible for this offer, you need to be a Costco member. While there is a charge for this, many people likely will already be members, or know a friend or family member who is a member who can purchase these gift cards for them.

While it’s not necessarily worth it to become a member simply for this offer, you’ll get tremendous value out of your membership with everyday purchases, too, as Costco is known for selling bulk items and packages for much lower than retail pricing.

This offer is limited to 2 cards (totaling $1,000) per member, so you won’t be able to purchase a ton of cards to stockpile for later, but you can ask other people you know if they would be willing to purchase cards for you if you end up needing more than $1,000.

Hot Tip:

Costco regularly sells gift cards at discounted pricing, so if you aren’t able to take advantage of this offer, check its website or stores to see what offers it has.

Final Thoughts

Since airfare is almost never discounted, these significant savings at Costco are definitely worthwhile to take advantage of if you have upcoming tickets to purchase or regularly fly Southwest. If you can maximize this offer and purchase 2 cards, you’ll save quite a bit of money on your next Southwest flight.

You can’t add the card to your Southwest account which means you have to 1 remember you have the gift card(s), 2 keep the printed number and pin somewhere where you won’t lose it, and 3) remember to use it on your next booking. Very likely you will never get all the value on these cards unless you use them right away.
