If you’re a Delta Air Lines flyer, there’s good news if you also rent cars through Hertz.
Thanks to a new partnership between the 2 companies, you can now earn more miles on all of your Hertz rentals. What’s more, Delta Medallion members can receive instant Hertz elite status for greater perks like car rental upgrades and a wider selection of cars to choose from.
Let’s take a look at Delta’s newest partnership with Hertz.
Earn More Miles With Hertz
You’ll now be able to earn more Delta miles when you rent with Hertz. As with most rental car companies, you can choose to either receive loyalty credit directly with the rental car’s membership program or earn airline miles with a number of partner airlines, including Delta.
In this case, you can choose between earning points towards free rentals with Hertz or additional Delta SkyMiles. Depending on your Delta status, you’ll now earn more SkyMiles for your Hertz rental:
Diamond Medallion: 8 miles per $1 spent
Platinum Medallion: 7 miles per $1 spent
Gold Medallion: 6 miles per $1 spent
Silver Medallion: 5 miles per $1 spent
SkyMiles Member (free to join): 4 miles per $1 spent
Earn Automatic Hertz Elite Status
Depending on what elite status level you are with Delta, you’ll now receive automaticstatus with Hertz, providing you extra benefits when you rent your next car:

If you choose to earn Hertz points, you earn 1.25 Hertz points for every $1 you spend on rentals
Silver Medallion
It’s no surprise that people who fly are likely to rent cars on their travels, so it’s only natural for an airline to team up with a car rental company for perks.
This partnership isn’t new, as Delta elites have had perks with Hertz for a while. However, these new benefits grant status-earning opportunities and allow you to earn more miles on your rentals.
Hot Tip: All SkyMiles members will also continue to earn 4x miles on car rentals with Thrifty and Dollar!
Final Thoughts
If you’re a Delta Medallion elite member, you can look forward to earning more Delta SkyMiles on your next Hertz rental. You’ll soon receive complimentary Hertz status — up to top-tier President’s Circle status — allowing you to receive upgrades, access to lanes where you can choose your own vehicle, and more.
