Few chefs are as instantly recognizable — or as influential — as José Andrés, the celebrated Spanish-American chef, restaurateur, and humanitarian behind World Central Kitchen. Now, his culinary reach is extending to the skies.

Beginning November 4, Delta Air Lines will launch a new partnership with Andrés to bring his bold Spanish flavors and signature dishes to travelers in Delta One and Delta First, plus a wider rollout planned through 2026.

Here’s what you need to know.

A Taste of Spain at 30,000 Feet

While airline food has long carried a bad reputation, Delta is putting an end to that notion — especially for premium flyers. They’ll soon enjoy dishes crafted by celebrity chef and humanitarian José Andrés himself.

The collaboration brings José Andrés’ bold Spanish flavors to the skies through a menu inspired by his roots and crafted to taste just as delicious at cruising altitude as it would in one of his restaurants. The new dishes debut for Delta One and Delta First passengers starting November 4. However, a wider rollout is planned through 2026.

Travelers can look forward to standout dishes such as:

  • Spanish Tortilla with Pisto Manchego: A traditional egg-and-potato omelet paired with a hearty vegetable stew.
  • Braised Beef Short Rib in Mojo Rojo BBQ Sauce: Tender, smoky beef served over creamy polenta.
  • Stuffed Piquillo Peppers: Filled with goat cheese and mushrooms, then drizzled with a piquillo béchamel.
  • Spanish-Style Chicken: Braised in a rich sauce of sherry and dried fruit, served with roasted vegetables.

Andrés’ culinary team worked hand in hand with Delta’s chefs to fine-tune each recipe — from portion size to presentation — making sure every bite feels as authentic as something you’d find in Madrid or Barcelona.

To complement these flavors, Delta is also rolling out its most refined Delta One wine program yet, curated by Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson.

Launching in October 2025, the lineup will feature standout bottles from Italy, France, and California, including labels like Jordan, Famille Perrin Châteauneuf du Pape, and Taittinger Champagne.

Hot Tip:

If you want to sample Chef José Andrés’ new creations, booking Delta One with points can be a smart move. You can often find great value using Virgin Atlantic Flying Club or Air France-KLM Flying Blue miles for Delta-operated flights, as both tend to price these premium cabins lower than Delta SkyMiles does.

Final Thoughts

Sometimes, it’s easy to joke about airplane food, but Delta’s new partnership with José Andrés shows that not all airline food is created equal — especially at the front of the plane.

Whether you’re flying for business or cashing in points for a Delta One seat, starting on November 4 and beyond, you’ll have the opportunity to taste the chef’s Spanish-inspired cooking and enjoy Delta’s upgraded wine list to go with it.
