Summer is almost over, but Delta Air Lines is already planning for next year. The airline will expand its operations in Boston (BOS), including the addition of 2 new routes to Nice (NCE) and Madrid (MAD), which are scheduled to commence next May.

“As Boston’s leading airline, Delta plays a vital role in connecting the city to the world,” said Paul Baldoni, senior vice president of network planning. “By adding nonstop service to Madrid and Nice, we’re enhancing our European network and continuing our commitment to providing an exceptional travel experience from start to finish.”

Here’s what you need to know about Delta’s expansion at its New England hub.

Boston Gets New Flights to Europe

Delta Air Lines will begin nonstop flights from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Madrid (MAD) on May 16 and to Nice (NCE) on May 17. Delta will fly daily to Madrid and three times weekly to Nice, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The airline will also increase its service from Boston to Barcelona (BCN) to daily, while Milan (MXP) flights will increase to 4 times weekly as of May 16, 2025.

The airline will fly its Airbus A330-900neo aircraft on the flights to Madrid and Nice. The 4-cabin A330-900-neo is equipped with complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi and features the best Delta One product available, with Missoni amenity kits, comfortable lie-flat seats, and enhanced meals.

Delta will be able to quickly establish itself on the BOS-NCE route, as no other airline flies nonstop between the 2 cities. However, it’ll have to play catch-up on the Madrid route. Crosstown rival JetBlue flies seasonally to Madrid, and Spanish flag carrier Iberia also operates the route.

Bottom Line:

The new routes to Europe complement Delta’s expansion in Boston. The airline will serve 12 destinations in Europe from Boston next summer.

How To Book

We checked Delta.com and Google Flights but could not find any nonstop flights from Boston to either city. That’s the biggest indicator that Delta has yet to load the new routes into its system.

When they do become available, you’ll want to have some Delta SkyMiles in your account to book. The easiest ways to earn SkyMiles are by having a co-branded Delta credit card, transferring American Express Membership Rewards or Marriott Bonvoy points, or using the SkyMiles Shopping portal.

You can also book Delta flights via SkyTeam alliance partner programs, such as Virgin Atlantic Flying Club and Air France-KLM Flying Blue.

Final Thoughts

Delta is adding flights to Madrid and Nice from its Boston hub and increasing service on its relatively new routes to Barcelona and Milan. This is excellent news for travelers in New England, who won’t have to transit through another destination. Unfortunately, flights aren’t available to book yet, but we’ll watch Delta’s website for updates!
