This week brought a new 1 Hotel in Austin, a Hyatt in Canadian wine country, plans for Regent Bora Bora, and a fresh ranking of the world’s best hotels.

1 Hotel Austin

The 252-room 1 Hotel Austin has opened inside Waterline, the tallest tower in Texas and the sustainability-focused brand’s first property in the state. Highlights include 60 suites, more than 4,000 plants, a Bamford Wellness Spa, and a rooftop pool and Japanese-inspired restaurant overlooking Lady Bird Lake.

Rooms start at $489 per night.

The Clayfield Joins The Unbound Collection by Hyatt

The Clayfield is now open in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, as part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. The wine-and-wellness hotel features the town’s first rooftop patio, a spa offering clay-based treatments and vinotherapy, and Terrain restaurant.

Rooms start at $350 per night, and as a Category 5 hotel, award nights are from 15,000 World of Hyatt points

Hyde & Seek, London Hyde Park

The former Corus Hotel Hyde Park will reopen this month as Hyde & Seek, London Hyde Park, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, after an approximate $56 million transformation. The 309-room Marriott Bonvoy hotel sits across from Hyde Park near Paddington station and will offer a British restaurant, a glass-roofed café, and a co-working lounge.

Nightly rates start at $299 or 59,000 Marriott Bonvoy points.

Upcoming Hotels

Regent Bora Bora (Late 2027)

The former InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa will reopen as Regent Bora Bora in late 2027 following an extensive renovation. The private-island resort will have 84 overwater villas overlooking Mount Otemanu and retain its energy-saving seawater air-conditioning system.

Once converted to the Regent brand under IHG Hotels & Resorts, travelers will be able to redeem IHG One Rewards for stays.

Under Canvas Santa Fe (April 2027)

Under Canvas Santa Fe will open in the high desert outside the city in April 2027, with direct access to hiking trails and the glamping brand’s first on-site sauna. The camp will be about an hour from Albuquerque, and reservations are available now for $279 per night.

New Orleans Marriott Completes Major Renovation

The New Orleans Marriott on Canal Street has completed renovations to all 1,333 guest rooms and suites, as well as its M Club. Updates include queen beds replacing double beds, walk-in showers in most rooms, convertible chaise lounges, and refreshed specialty suites.

Le Guanahani St. Barth Will Leave Rosewood for Airelles

Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth is expected to become Airelles Le Guanahani St. Barth on November 1, 2026. The 66-room resort, which first opened in 1986, occupies an 18-acre peninsula on Marigot Bay and will become the French luxury brand’s first property in St. Barth.

Laguna Cliffs Marriott Will Become a JW Marriott

The 371-room Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa will undergo a major transformation and become The Ocean Cliffs at Dana Point, a JW Marriott Resort. Plans include a new central pool, a chef-driven restaurant, an expanded event lawn, a 6,000-square-foot ballroom, and refreshed rooms. A completion date has not been announced.

Marriott Appoints New Bonvoy Loyalty Leader

Marriott has named former JetBlue and The Points Guy executive Chris Buckner senior vice president of loyalty. Buckner previously helped oversee JetBlue’s TrueBlue overhaul, though no immediate Marriott Bonvoy changes were announced.

Rosewood Hong Kong Tops the World’s 50 Best Hotels

Rosewood Hong Kong ranked first on the latest World’s 50 Best Hotels list, followed by Capella Bangkok and Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River. U.S. entries included 22nd-ranked San Ysidro Ranch and Amangiri at the 45th position. Rosewood São Paulo ranked sixth, Chablé Yucatán ninth, and Europe’s Passalacqua fifth.

Points travelers have a few options on the list, including the 37th-ranked Park Hyatt Kyoto and Marriott’s 38th-ranked Hôtel du Couvent in Nice, France. Raffles Singapore and Raffles London at The OWO also participate in Accor Live Limitless.

Final Thoughts

The Austin, Niagara-on-the-Lake, and London openings can be booked now or soon, while Regent Bora Bora and Under Canvas Santa Fe give travelers new options to watch for 2027.
