On December 23, 2022, Hyatt announced that Hotel Flüela, in the Swiss resort town of Davos, would join The Unbound Collection in 2023.
Here ’s what you need to know.
Hotel to Join The Unbound Collection in 2023
Hyatt said the change would happen after the 50-room hotel undergoes extensive renovations. This will be the second hotel in Switzerland to join The Unbound Collection, with a project in Crans-Montana expected to open next winter.
Davos is a prime ski destination and is also the site of the World Economic Forum. Hotel Flüela, itself, has, in the past, drawn ski fanatics as well as foreign dignitaries.
Not much is known about what the renovation will entail, though the original hotel had several restaurant and bar spaces, and several rooms were suites. The hotel is expected to participate in the World of Hyatt program, but at this time, it’s unclear what category this new hotel will fall under or how many points will be required for a stay.
“Today’s announcement signals Hyatt’s commitment to delivering on our ambitious growth plans for our luxury portfolio across Europe, bringing our diverse brands to some of the region’s most sought-after destinations,” Briana Swift, Hyatt’s director of development in Western Europe, said in a statement.
Swift called the hotel a “beloved landmark” that would be a perfect addition to The Unbound Collection brand.
Hyatt’s The Unbound Collection is a growing presence in Europe. Other properties in the region include the following:
Additionally, the Grand Hansa Hotel in Finland is expected to open to guests in 2023.
If you’re considering a stay at any of the above properties or Hotel Flüela when it opens, you have several options to earn Hyatt points. The World of Hyatt card and World of Hyatt Business card both offer welcome bonuses as part of their sign-up perks (and entry-level Discoverist status). You can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio.
Hot Tip: Make sure to read our guide to earning World of Hyatt points!
Final Thoughts
World of Hyatt doesn’t have as large of a footprint in Europe as competitors Hilton, IHG, and Marriott, but that’s beginning to change — and opening hotels in sought-after destinations like Davos is a good start. While we still don’t know much about the hotel, make sure to check out other Unbound Collection hotels in Europe in the meantime!
