Marriott has announced the opening of Iaïla, Seychelles, a Tribute Portfolio Resort, which is the first Tribute Portfolio property in the country.

“The remote country of Seychelles is as fascinating as it is eye-catching with its own indie spirit, making for a mesmerizing setting for our first Tribute Portfolio property,” said Jennifer Connell, Global Brand Leader, Tribute Portfolio, and Vice President, Distinctive Premium Brands, Marriott International.

Let’s take a look at everything you need to know about this brand-new property in the Seychelles.

Iaïla, Seychelles, a Tribute Portfolio Resort is situated near Anse Royal, a popular beach on the southeastern coast of Mahé, the largest island of the Seychelles.

The resort has just 76 guest rooms, and each will be “decorated with nature-inspired aesthetics, featuring a mural of the Seychelles’ plant silhouette, hand-woven macramé bed board, and room separator made with wood and rattan, the natural materials often used in the island’s traditional architecture.”

It also features 8 suites, including the Senior Suite, which has its own plunge pool and views of the island’s rugged landscape and the Indian Ocean.

Elsewhere on the resort, guests will find plenty of amenities including a dedicated watersports center, a kids’ area, a swimming pool, a 24/7 fitness center, a full-service spa, a barbershop, and more.

As far as eating and drinking go, Iaïla offers 5 restaurants and bars, including:

  • Laroul: Serves international cuisine “with a distinctive Seychellois touch” for breakfast and dinner.
  • Kafe Kreol Beachside Bar and Restaurant: Features rustic decor and serves a mix of Creole and Italian dishes with an emphasis on cocktails drawing on international and local inspiration.
  • Laroul Bar: Located poolside, this outpost serves a selection of drinks and light bites.

Iaïla offers plenty of activities, too. Guests can participate in “curated village experiences,” including Creole cooking classes, traditional weaving demonstrations, and evenings dancing around the bonfire to the traditional and charming sounds of Moutya music.

There are opportunities to explore local villages, take fishing trips, go on hikes, or visit nearby islands, including the uninhabited Ile Souris island, which is known to attract a variety of coral fish and sea turtles.
