High-end food and beverage is necessary for any notable first class airline experience. Nothing screams “fancy” quite like caviar, and while first class flyers may be accustomed to enjoying the delicacy at 35,000 feet, Japan Airlines (JAL) will serve it in some of its airport lounges for a limited time.

Let’s take a look at the details.

JAL Serving Caviar in Some Lounges

If you’ve been hankering for a hefty serving of caviar, now’s the time to book your first class JAL flight to Japan, because this partnership only extends to the end of the month. As noted in a FlyerTalk thread, anyone visiting select JAL first class lounges can enjoy 1983 Sushi Caviar and J Caviar Vodka. However, quantities are limited, so you’ll want to visit as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to find these at all JAL first class lounges — this promotion is limited only to the first class lounges at Narita International Airport (NRT) and Haneda International Airport (HND).

Accessing JAL First Class Lounges

There are 2 main methods of accessing JAL’s first class lounges. The most obvious is to book a first class ticket with JAL or another Oneworld carrier (such as American Airlines), which will grant you access to the lounge.

Note, however, that there are access restrictions; you must be traveling on the same day (or early the next morning) from either of these airports to gain entry, or you must have onward travel with a Oneworld carrier.

However, you can also access JAL’s first class lounges when traveling in any class of service if you have top-tier Oneworld elite status. This means that if you have Alaska Airlines MVP Gold 75K or 100K status or American Airlines AAdvantage Platinum Pro or Executive Platinum status, you have Oneworld Emerald elite status and can access both business and first class lounges during your travels. Note that you will need to be flying on a Oneworld-operated flight to qualify for entry.

Final Thoughts

If you have an upcoming first class flight with Japan Airlines — or just really enjoy caviar and high-end vodka — this will be a fun treat for you. Just remember, the offering ends on September 30, 2023, and quantities are limited!
