We’ve known for a while now that JetBlue would be introducing a few big changes, including a domestic first class product and dedicated airport lounges.

Now, we have a clearer picture of when some of these changes will become a reality.

First Class, Lounges, and More Coming Soon to JetBlue

JetBlue just reported its third-quarter financial results, in which it also revealed key information about some new customer-facing products that have been previously confirmed.

First, the airline said that it would begin rolling out its domestic first-class product in 2026. About a quarter of its non-Mint-equipped fleet will see the new cabins next year, with the majority of the fleet being completed by 2027.

Not to be confused with JetBlue’s premium lie-flat Mint product, the carrier’s forthcoming domestic first class will be reminiscent of a traditional U.S. first class product, with wider seats that feature more generous recline.

A new first class product is just part of JetBlue’s plan to introduce a range of new products designed to capture revenue from premium passengers, which has been a significant factor in driving profits for JetBlue’s competitors.

Among these changes is the introduction of dedicated airport lounges. Initially, the plan was to introduce lounges at the airline’s hubs in Boston (BOS) and New York (JFK) this year. However, it now appears that the JFK space is still on track to open before the end of the year, while the Boston opening has been pushed back into next year.

Finally, the airline plans to introduce high-speed inflight Wi-Fi to its fleet via Amazon’s Project Kuiper. This competitor to SpaceX’s Starlink product is becoming more popular among airlines worldwide, including JetBlue’s new partner, United.

Taken together, these changes represent a marked shift in course from JetBlue’s strategy to this point, and it’s clear that the airline wants to capture a slice of the premium market that has proven to be enduring and lucrative for airlines.

Hot Tip:

JetBlue’s new lounges will be an exclusive experience, though you can gain access if you hold JetBlue’s new premium credit card.

Final Thoughts

Big changes are coming soon for JetBlue. Its first lounge should open in New York by the end of this year, and domestic first class products should start popping up next year. Combine that with next-gen high-speed Wi-Fi, and the airline should look a whole lot different come 2027.
