JFK serves over 61 million passengers every year, making it the sixth-busiest airport in the U.S. There are 24 lounges at JFK, with 8 allowing passengers to purchase single-entry passes.
7 of the lounges are available to passengers with Priority Pass membership, including the Primeclass and Wingtips lounges.
With security checkpoints at each terminal, it can be difficult to use a lounge at a different terminal to your departure, however, JFK’s renovation plans should improve this situation once 2 new consolidated terminals are completed.
For information on accessing lounges worldwide, see our article on the best credit cards for getting into airport lounges.
Update: Some of the lounges featured in this article may be closed or operating under reduced opening hours due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Connecting Between Terminals for Lounge Access
JFK’s AirTrain is the main way to get between terminals. Operating outside of the secure area, this requires passengers to re-clear security when entering a terminal, which can delay connection times. It’s worth considering this and allowing extra time, especially if you’re traveling between terminals to access a particular lounge.
Delta operates the JFK Jitney shuttle bus between Terminals 2 and 4, where you shouldn’t have to re-clear security on arrival. Just be aware that some passengers have reported having to re-clear security, so allow plenty of time to reach your flight.
Best Credit Cards To Access Priority Pass Lounges
Priority Pass is a lounge network of over 1,300 airport lounges, restaurants, and experiences that provides complimentary food, drinks, a place to relax, and other amenities. This lounge network provides an exceptional value for travelers looking for a place to relax and refuel before or in between flights. Luckily for frequent travelers, there are several great travel rewards credit cards that come along with a Priority Pass membership.
Our 2 top options are the Amex Platinum card and the Chase Sapphire Reserve®. The Chase Sapphire Reserve card gets cardholders access to all Priority Pass lounges and Priority Pass restaurants (including Bobby Van’s Steakhouse at JFK), while the Amex Platinum card does not include restaurants. Instead, you get access to Amex Centurion Lounges, Plaza Premium lounges, Delta Sky Clubs (when flying Delta), Escape Lounges, and Airspace lounges.
Curious what other credit cards include a Priority Pass membership? Here are some great options:
Final Thoughts
There’s a huge choice of lounges available at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Access ranges from purchasing a single visit, lounge memberships, and airline lounges for passengers with certain credentials.
JFK’s restrictive layout means that passengers are unable to simply stroll between terminals to utilize all available lounges. With unpredictable wait times at security, many passengers won’t risk that glass of wine or cup of coffee to have to clear security twice before a flight.
