JetBlue To Introduce Unbundled Mint Fares, Removing Perks and Lounges From ‘Mint Base’

Tucked into JetBlue’s announcement of its new BlueHouse lounge in Boston was an update on access policies.

Along with holding JetBlue’s premium credit card, passengers traveling in the Mint cabin have access to JetBlue’s lounges before departure.

Soon, that will change, as only people who book the right type of Mint fare will have lounge access. That’s because the airline will soon unbundle its Mint fares, offering 3 different fare types. Only 2 of them will include the perks Mint passengers are used to right now.

Here’s what you should know about these changes coming on August 27, 2026.

JetBlue’s Current Mint Fares

JetBlue currently offers 2 types of Mint fares: Mint and Mint Flex. The key difference is that Mint Flex offers free same-day standby/flight changes and offers refunds to the original form of payment in case of cancellation.

Beyond that, both fare types offer the same perks: lie-flat seats, priority check-in and boarding, 2 complimentary checked bags, curated dining with small plates, and lounge access if you’re departing from an airport with a BlueHouse lounge.

However, this setup is changing on August 27, 2026.

JetBlue To Introduce ‘Mint Base’ Fares With Fewer Perks

According to a statement from JetBlue, “Beginning August 27, complimentary BlueHouse access will expand to all customers with departing travel on a confirmed Mint or Mint Flex fare.”

Also on that date, JetBlue will introduce a new Mint Base (the business class equivalent of basic economy). This fare type will be cheaper, but it will offer fewer benefits to passengers who choose it. Chiefly, passengers won’t have lounge access.

Among its restrictions, the Mint Base fare won’t include BlueHouse lounge access or complimentary seat selection in advance, and there will be fees to change or cancel a Mint Base ticket. To avoid these restrictions, passengers will need to choose a Mint or Mint Flex fare.

What We Don’t Know About These Changes

There are 2 big questions that need to be sorted out when Mint Base fares go live on August 27:

• Will premium cardholders still get BlueHouse lounge access?
• How will this affect those with Mosaic elite status?

JetBlue hasn’t specified whether its JetBlue Premier World Elite Mastercard^® will still get complimentary BlueHouse lounge access when traveling on a Mint Base ticket. Moreover, those with Mosaic 4 status currently get access when flying transatlantic in a Mint seat. Will that benefit remain?

Final Thoughts

In a few days, JetBlue will introduce a Mint Base fare. This cheaper ticket will still give you a lie-flat Mint seat and dining during your flight. Beyond that, this ticket type removes lounge access and the ability to choose seats at no cost in advance.
