Qatar Airways is elevating its New York presence, with plans to relocate to JFK’s all-new Terminal One and debut a brand-new premium lounge for its business-class travelers.

The Doha-based carrier will shift from Terminal 8 to the $19 billion New Terminal One, a state-of-the-art international terminal being built on the site of the former Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Slated to open in 2026, the project aims to transform JFK into a world-class global gateway, and Qatar Airways will be among its flagship tenants.

“Our move demonstrates the evolution of Qatar Airways’ long-standing commitment to connecting global travelers to New York and expanding our services in the destination integral to our network in the U.S.,” said Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, CEO at Qatar Airways Group.

Let’s take a look at the details.

Qatar Airways Business Class Lounge Will Debut in JFK’s Brand-New Terminal One Next Year

Qatar Airways has chosen New York JFK‘s new Terminal One to be the home of its first-ever airport lounge in the U.S.

When it opens sometime in 2026, the 15,000-square-foot lounge will become only the airline’s sixth lounge outside its home base at Doha (DOH). Qatar’s other international lounges are in Bangkok (BKK), Beirut (BEY), London (LHR), Paris (CDG), and Singapore (SIN).

Images of what Qatar’s new premium lounge at JFK will look like have yet to be revealed. In the meantime, we’d expect them to have a similar design and feel of luxury as the Al Mourjan Business Class Lounge at the airline’s Doha hub.

With up to 18 weekly flights from JFK to Doha, it shows that Qatar wants to invest in its passenger experience at the New York airport.

Qatar Airways’ new home in Terminal One will offer one of the most luxurious experiences for premium passengers at JFK. In addition to VIP check-in services, premium dining, and world-class amenities, business-class travelers will even be able to board their flight directly from the lounge.

“Our new state-of-the-art lounge will provide an enhanced experience at each touchpoint and complement our industry-leading Business Class travel experience,” said Al-Meer.

While we wait for Terminal One and Qatar Airways’ new business class lounge to open, eligible passengers can use the existing lounges at JFK’s Terminal 8.

Those flying business class or holding Oneworld Sapphire or Emerald status can access the Greenwich Lounge, while first-class travelers or top-tier elites such as American Airlines Platinum or Oneworld Emerald members can use the Soho Lounge.

Final Thoughts

One of the world’s most premium airlines is bringing its world-class lounge experience to JFK’s brand-new Terminal One. This should be truly something to get excited about, should you have a trip planned with Qatar Airways next year.
