The semi-private air carrier JSX is making some big moves next month — it’s going to establish a new base and expand service.

Here’s what you need to know.

Flights Start at $199 One-Way

JSX has announced that it is moving its base from San Diego (SAN) to Carlsbad (CLD) and adding flight service to Las Vegas (LAS) and Taos, New Mexico (TSM) from the new base.

“Our move to Carlsbad signifies JSX’s emphasis on providing seamless, simplified, and efficient travel experiences in smaller cities, where our customers can preserve their most valuable asset – time,” CEO Alex Wilcox said in a statement.

Sample fares start at $199 each way and include 2 checked bags (weight and size restrictions will apply), onboard cocktails, and business-class-like legroom to stretch out.

Flights between Carlsbad and Las Vegas will operate 5 days a week, with up to 6 daily flights, and will begin on October 5, 2023. Flights between Carlsbad and Taos will begin December 14, 2023, and will operate 3 days a week with 2 flights a day.

JSX operates a unique model where you can arrive at the airport and hop onto a flight just a few minutes before departure, which is perfect for last-minute travelers or those who don’t enjoy hanging out at the airport.

Bottom Line:

JSX is a “semi-private” air carrier that utilizes much smaller private terminals and airport hangars. This cuts out traditional pain points of commercial aviation, such as crowds and long lines at security screening. JSX uses Embraer jets that offer 30 business-class-style seats.

Get $100 Back on Your JSX Purchase With Amex Offer

You can save even more money on your trip with an Amex Offer for $100 back when you spend $500 or more on a flight with JSX through October 27, 2023.

Like all Amex Offers, you’ll need to add the offer to the card it was targeted for to receive your statement credit and book directly with the airline.

You’ll receive the discount as a $100 statement credit. The terms say it will be issued 90 days after October 23, 2023, but in our experience, they typically post soon after the qualifying purchase is made.

Final Thoughts

This is pretty exciting news from JSX, which is moving its base to Carlsbad and linking the city with 2 new destinations. To celebrate, JSX is offering promo fares starting at $200 each way — and if you’re flying round-trip, you can save even more by stacking with an Amex Offer!
