IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced that a new hotel, Kimpton Hotel Theta, will open in New York City this fall.
Here’s what you need to know!
Kimpton Hotel Theta, located near New York’s Theater District, will have 364 guest rooms, including 5 suites and a 1,100-square-foot penthouse.
The hotel will have an expansive rooftop bar, a grab-and-go station in the lobby, and 1,100 square feet of meeting space.
Amenities include morning coffee and tea, evening social hour, an amenity program, a 24-hour fitness center, in-room yoga mats, bikes available for guest use, and a no-pet-fee policy.
The hotel is expected to open in the fall of 2023, though there’s no exact opening date yet.
“We’re looking forward to bringing another Kimpton to the New York City market, and Kimpton Hotel Theta will bring an unexpected, refreshing experience to the Midtown West neighborhood,” said Mike DeFrino, Managing Director, Luxury & Lifestyle Americas at IHG Hotels & Resorts. “The hotel will serve as a boutique oasis designed to delight all guests who are looking to stay in the middle of it all but also have space to recharge and reset.”
Kimpton is one of IHG’s signature hotel brands, combining a sophisticated sense of design with unique amenities to deliver a one-of-a-kind guest experience. You’ll find 70 Kimpton Hotels around the globe, including one in New York City, the Kimpton Hotel Eventi located in Chelsea.
Another 2 dozen will open in the next 3 to 5 years across 20 new destinations, including Bali and Shanghai.

While we wait for the hotel to open in the fall, you can earn and redeem IHG One Rewards points for a stay at IHG’s other properties in New York, which includes the aforementioned Kimpton Hotel Eventi, as well as other luxury hotels such as the InterContinental New York Times Square, Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York, and voco Times Square South New York.
There are several easy ways to earn IHG One Rewards points. Perhaps the easiest is to open an IHG-branded credit card. IHG offers 2 personal and 1 business credit card, all issued by Chase. Additionally, you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points to IHG One Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.
Any time a new hotel is announced in New York City, it’s always great news for travelers.
