Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, one of IHG’s luxury and lifestyle brands, will open the Kimpton Rockefeller Center in New York City next year.

Here’s everything you need to know about the hotel!

Kimpton’s Third NYC Property Coming Soon

The Kimpton Rockefeller Center will be massive, boasting a whopping 529 guest rooms and suites. Amenities will include 2 restaurants, a lobby lounge, a rooftop bar, a fitness center, and meeting spaces. True to the brand, it will be pet-friendly and have a Kimpton-specific program.

The Kimpton Rockefeller Center is in a prime location for tourists and business travelers. It is located on 48th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues near numerous subway lines and attractions, such as Radio City Music Hall and Central Park.

IHG says the hotel will open in late 2025.

“New York City has always been one of the world’s most exciting destinations, and we’re thrilled to be expanding Kimpton’s presence in this important market with Extell Development Company,” said IHG SVP, Managing Director for Luxury & Lifestyle Americas, Leanne Harwood. “With its unparalleled location in the center of the city, Kimpton Rockefeller Center will welcome guests with an inspiring boutique luxury setting while opening the door to the endless expansive experiences the destination has to offer.”

Other Kimpton Hotels in NYC

The Kimpton Rockefeller Center will join 2 other existing Kimpton hotels in New York City: the Kimpton Hotel Theta in Times Square, which opened last year, and the Kimpton Hotel Eventi in Chelsea.

While we await the Kimpton Rockefeller Center’s opening, you can earn and redeem IHG One Rewards points at either property. While IHG doesn’t use an award chart (it uses dynamic pricing instead), rates at both hotels are pretty competitive. This is especially true for the New York high-end hotel market, which is notably pricey whether you pay cash or use points.

For instance, rates at the Kimpton Hotel Theta start at just 28,000 points per night for dates this fall (in late November). That’s an incredible deal for Times Square, especially during the holiday travel season. The Kimpton Hotel Eventi is also moderately priced, with rates this fall starting at 38,000 points per night this fall.

Even if you aren’t an IHG loyalist, you can earn IHG One Rewards points in several ways. The quickest (and easiest) way to do this is by opening an IHG-branded credit card. If you have a card that earns Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points, you can transfer them to IHG One Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.

Hot Tip:

Final Thoughts

New York City can’t seem to get enough of Kimpton hotels, as the brand will open its third hotel in the Big Apple next year. This is fantastic news for IHG loyalists, who will have yet another option for a luxe hotel in a central location.

While we wait for the Kimpton Rockefeller Center to open, now’s a great time to take advantage of the excellent award rates at IHG’s other Kimpton hotels!
