Marriott is set to expand the luxury EDITION brand significantly; its footprint will double to 30 properties by 2027. Travelers to Mexico’s Riveria Maya will now have a new 5-star option starting today.

Here’s what you need to know.

The Riviera Maya EDITION

On December 7, 2023, The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai made its highly anticipated debut on the Yucatan Peninsula. Built on a 620-acre nature reserve with 2 miles of white sand beachfront, the EDITION houses 182 guestrooms, including 30 suites, with many rooms featuring plunge pools and terraces.

There are 6 food and beverage outlets, including EDITION’s signature restaurant, KI’IS (a Mayan word that translates to “zest”), a pool bar and beach club, a destination cenote-inspired spa, and an expansive 27,000-square-foot penthouse suite.

The hotel’s location in Riviera Maya is known for its mangroves and lagoons, ancient Mayan cities, tropical beaches, ecological reserves, and the second-largest coral reef in the world.

Set within Kanai, a new luxury resort community, EDITION joins a St. Regis property that opened earlier this year.

Hot Tip:

EDITION, originally conceived as a partnership between the hotel giant and legendary hotelier Ian Schrager, is a collection of individualized luxury hotels. Here are some of the best EDITION properties that you can book using points.

How to Book

The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai is officially open for guests and is participating in the Marriott Bonvoy programIt’s one of Marriott’s premier brands so don’t expect it to come cheap. However, you’ll be able to earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points during your stay.

Award nights for stays in March 2024 start at around 100,000 Marriott Bonvoy points for a standard king room, with cash rates hovering around $700 per night.

If you need to top up your account balance, you’re in luck, as it’s relatively easy to earn Marriott Bonvoy points. There are several Marriott Bonvoy co-branded credit cardsall of which offer substantial welcome bonuses.

Hot Tip:

You can also transfer points to Marriott Bonvoy via Chase Ultimate RewardsAmerican Express Membership Rewards, and Bilt Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts

The Riveria Maya EDITION is set to become one of the most sought-after properties in Mexico’s Yucatan. EDITION hotels ooze class and luxury, and even better, Marriott Bonvoy loyalists have an exciting new property to redeem points for an opulent stay. We can’t wait to check out this hotel for ourselves!
