Marriott just opened a brand-new Moxy Hotel in St. Petersburg, Florida. Known for its small rooms and fun communal spaces, the Moxy St. Petersburg Downtown hotel is debuting to much fanfare on Florida’s Gulf Coast.

There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get right to it!

New Moxy Hotel Opens in St. Pete’s EDGE District

The Moxy St. Pete has 163 guest rooms and suites and is located in the EDGE District in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida.

Amenities include an indoor-outdoor lobby bar, a coffee bar, a podcast studio, 1,000 square feet of meeting spaces, and a gym. It also boasts the first rooftop pool in St. Pete’s hip EDGE District. Another restaurant, Sparrow, will open on the roof this fall.

The hotel is 11 miles from St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) and 21 miles from Tampa International Airport (TPA).

“Moxy St. Pete reflects the energy of the EDGE District, particularly as St. Pete continues to grow into a true international destination,” said Nick Pantuliano, chief operating offer, PTM Partners. “We welcome travelers and locals alike to Moxy St. Pete and the EDGE District, and can’t wait for guests to experience all of the hotel’s offerings.”

Indeed, St. Petersburg, located on Florida’s Gulf Coast, is stepping out of the shadows of its nearby larger city, Tampa. St. Pete is establishing itself as a cultural hub, shaking off the perception of a retirement community by developing neighborhoods like the EDGE with new restaurants and bars.

Booking the Moxy St. Pete

The Moxy St. Petersburg Downtown is now open for guests. You can earn and redeem points here, as the hotel is a member of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program.

Rates are comparable to those at other Moxy hotels in the U.S. The cheapest rates we’re seeing start at just $130 per night in September. Rates for the remainder of the year remain pretty affordable, hovering around $250 nightly.

If you prefer saving cash, you can use Marriott Bonvoy points. A standard room will cost around 42,000 points per night throughout 2024 and 2025.

Luckily, Marriott Bonvoy points are easy to earn. You can top off your balance by transferring American Express Membership RewardsBilt Rewards, and Chase Ultimate Rewards at a 1:1 ratio. You can also open a Marriott Bonvoy credit card to earn a welcome bonus and Marriott elite status.

Bottom Line:

Moxy St. Pete is a new Marriott hotel in St. Petersburg, Florida’s vibrant EDGE neighborhood. It can be booked for as few as 42,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.

Final Thoughts

A new Marriott Bonvoy hotel has opened in sunny St. Pete. It’s centrally located, has some fantastic amenities, and is affordable with cash or points. If you’re planning a visit to St. Pete and want to earn and spend your Marriott points, make sure to check out the new Moxy.
