Moxy Hotels is one of the most exciting and eclectic hotel brands. A member of the Marriott International portfolio, Moxy Hotels is known to be stylish, playful, and relaxed.

Today, the Moxy Hotels brand has more than 100 properties in 25 countries and territories worldwide. As a Marriott Bonvoy member, you can earn and redeem points during your stay at any Moxy Hotels property.

This guide will show you the best Moxy Hotels you can easily book using your Marriott Bonvoy points. But before we delve into them, let’s explore the brand and the exciting experiences that await you at any Moxy hotel worldwide.

Everything You Need To Know About Moxy Hotels

Marriott’s most stylish budget brand is Moxy Hotels. Founded in 2013 through a partnership with IKEA, the affordability and amenities of Moxy Hotels have made this brand a solid choice.

It falls under the “Select” brand — which includes brands such as Aloft Hotels, Courtyard by Marriott, and Four Points by Sheraton — boasting playful accommodations focused on millennials and Gen-Z guests. While rooms at Moxy can be small, they offer walk-in showers, premium amenities, and high-thread-count bedding. Hotel amenities include fitness centers, artsy lobbies, and grab-and-go food and beverage offerings.

A Non-Traditional Hotel Experience

Moxy hotel rooms are tiny, and that’s by design. Instead of a dedicated closet, you’ll find peg walls to store your coat and backpack, tables and chairs that double as room artwork, and under-bed storage to maximize your small room space. Additionally, Moxy hotels are pet-friendly, meaning you can bring Fido along.

Affordable Pricing

Aside from compact rooms, Moxy Hotels are perhaps best known for their affordability, whether you’re paying cash or points. Many of the hotels on our list have cash rates under $200 nightly — even in some of the world’s most popular cities.

Moxy Hotels are also highly affordable when using Marriott Bonvoy points and are some of the best redemptions for travelers with a limited points balance. With Moxy Hotels, you’ll pay considerably less in points than at a more premium brand like Autograph Collection or EDITION Hotels.

Social Public Spaces

Your Moxy experience starts at check-in, where you’ll be welcomed with a cocktail (or mocktail). Many Moxy Hotels feature Bar Moxy, which serves as part bar, lounge, and office space. You’ll be able to grab a coffee — or something stronger — and work or play at your leisure. Some Moxy hotels even have casual dining options or fun pop-ups, like the Café d’Avignon pop-up at Bar Moxy at Moxy Times Square.

Free Night Awards

One reason Moxy properties are extremely popular among Marriott Bonvoy loyalists is the ease of using Free Night Awards at these hotels.

Free Night Awards range from 25,000 to 85,000 points, and Marriott Bonvoy has a massive footprint of hotels where you can redeem these awards, including Moxy Hotels. Moxy might be one of the best options for spending Free Night Awards, especially for budget travelers, as its properties hover around the 40,000 to 50,000 point redemption range.

Earning Free Night Awards is pretty simple. Marriott offers the perk on several co-branded credit cards. You can also earn the certificates as a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite benefit or through promotions.

The 12 Best Moxy Hotels Redemptions

1. Moxy Seoul, Myeongdong (South Korea)

Moxy Seoul quad room

Next to the bustling Myeongdong Shopping Street district, Moxy Seoul, Myeongdong, is the perfect budget hotel if you want to be close to the action. The hotel is in a prime location near attractions such as Gyeongbokgung Palace and N Seoul Tower.

True to the Moxy brand standard, rooms are compact, ranging from 1 queen bed to a Quad Bunk with an occupancy of 4. However, if you need more space, there is a 1,076-square-foot suite.

Room amenities include free Wi-Fi, USB ports, 42-inch flat-screen TVs, and AI voice-controlled lighting. But given how small the room is, you’ll probably spend more time outside of it. Keeping to the laid-back vibe, the hotel includes a grab-and-go station for breakfast or snacks, a full-service bar with a foosball table, and space for work and play.

Award rates are incredibly competitive for hotels in Seoul. You can find award nights at this hotel for as low as 19,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night, with the average award starting around 24,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night. Cash rates are also pretty cheap, hovering around $140 nightly.

2. Moxy Miami South Beach (Florida, U.S.)

Moxy Miami South Beach

The 202-room Moxy Miami South Beach is considered one of the best Moxy properties.

Marriott went with a design that blended 2 eclectic cities in Latin America: Havana and Mexico City. With bright colors throughout, the first resort-style Moxy hotel features 2 pools, a nearby beach club, and coworking spaces. The Moxy Miami South Beach also offers a far more robust dining program than many Moxy hotels, which tend to be smaller in scale.

Here, you’ll find 6 dining options, including Bar Moxy, an all-day bodega and taco stand, a rooftop restaurant and bar, and a seafood restaurant.

With such high-end offerings, you may expect Moxy Miami South Beach to be pricier than it is. However, you’ll find rates sub-$200 nightly — even during the peak summer travel season. However, Moxy Miami South Beach is perhaps one of the best hotels to redeem Marriott Bonvoy points or a Free Night Award. Award nights start at just 32,000 Marriott Bonvoy points this summer — a steal for often-expensive Miami.

3. Moxy NYC Times Square (New York, U.S.)

Moxy Times Square

As 1 of 6 Moxy properties in New York City, the Moxy NYC Times Square has carved out a major presence in the city.

This massive hotel has 612 rooms and suites and more than 22,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Rooms at the Moxy NYC Times Square range from 150 to 350 square feet, and all rooms feature 300 thread-count 100% Egyptian cotton linen, large TVs, workspaces, and more.

But this hotel isn’t just in a prime location — it’s also home to one of the most popular (and Instagrammable) rooftops in New York, Magic Hour Rooftop and Bar. The largest indoor/outdoor all-season hotel rooftop bar in the city, Magic Hour is famous for its brunch and great views. If you visit for brunch, go all out and order the Pink AF Pancake Stack — a pink stack of pancakes.

Room rates begin at around $140 per night this summer and can go up to $250. Award nights aren’t the cheapest. The lowest we found was 42,000 points per night this summer, with the average around 52,000 points.

Bottom Line:

You can score up to 30% off on quad bunk rooms (with a 2-night minimum stay) through September 30, 2024!

4. Moxy Brussels City Center (Belgium)

Moxy Brussels City

Brussels is considered one of Europe’s financial capitals, so the Moxy Brussels City Center caters to business and leisure travelers alike.

The hotel offers “Plug and Meet” public gathering areas with writing walls, 56-inch TVs, a video wall, and a 24/7 snack station. You’ll have access to continental breakfast in the mornings and an evening bar after a long day of meetings or exploring Brussels. Other amenities include the Moxy Bar, a fitness center, and a restaurant dishing up Mediterranean cuisine.

All rooms feature motion-activated LED guidelights, flat-screen TVs, and walk-in showers. Cash rates are around $150 nightly, while award nights hover around 21,000 points per night this summer.

5. Moxy Louisville Downtown (Kentucky, U.S.)

Moxy Louisville Downtown

The Moxy Louisville Downtown is the highest-rated Moxy hotel in the U.S. (at least, according to Google) and is in the historic Whiskey Row neighborhood. With a prime location, you’ll be steps from numerous distilleries and bars and a short distance to the world-famous Kentucky Derby.

Inside the hotel, you’ll find a fitness center, a living room for working and socializing (with weekly DJ sets), a taco bar, and pet-friendly accommodations.

Rooms range from a standard queen, which offers views of downtown Louisville, to a Corner Riverview queen, offering floor-to-ceiling views of the Ohio River.

Rates start at $220 or 30,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night for a queen room.

6. Moxy Kyoto (Japan)

Moxy Kyoto

Moxy Kyoto is in the heart of downtown Kyoto. You’ll be close to all the action here, as the hotel is a 3-minute walk from JR and Subway Nijo station and 15 minutes by taxi to JR Kyoto station.

While the rooms are compact, they feature 50-inch TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi, and storage space. Outside your room, you can expect to socialize with Moxy favorites such as Bar Moxy, work up a sweat in the 24/7 fitness center, or take a call in the meeting space.

Room rates start around $97 per night, an excellent price for Kyoto. You’ll also find award nights from 24,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, which can be booked using points or a 25,000-point Free Night Award.

7. Moxy Manchester City (U.K.)

Moxy Manchester City

The 9-story, 146-room Moxy Manchester City is a hotel for the young and young-at-heart. A 24-hour space in the hotel is perfect for communal activities like foosball and card and board games. If you prefer to party in the comfort of your hotel, a DJ is at Bar Moxy nightly to keep the party going.

The pet-friendly rooms include TVs with Netflix, walk-in showers, and lounge chairs.

Rates at the hotel are dirt cheap, even for a Moxy. Cash rates can be found for around $110 per night this summer. Award rates are also some of the most affordable among Moxy Hotels, starting at around 20,000 points per night.

8. Moxy Copenhagen Sydhavnen (Denmark)

Moxy Copenhagen Sydhavnen

Moxy Copenhagen Sydhavnen is a fantastic hotel for budget travelers looking for a familiar brand in Denmark.

All rooms are equipped with Chromecast-outfitted TVs, USB plug-ins, and free Wi-Fi. Hotel amenities include a snack bar, fitness center, meeting and event space, and bike rentals.

Cash prices start around $145 per night this summer, with award stays from 24,000 points per night.

9. Moxy Lisbon City (Portugal)

Located in the city’s center, Moxy Lisbon City offers a place to unwind, work, or party at an affordable price with cash or points.

Guests receive a complimentary continental breakfast daily. The property also offers high-end amenities, including a swimming pool and meeting rooms. Guest rooms are small, as is custom for the brand (and Europe, generally), but corner units with floor-to-ceiling views are available.

Cash prices start at around $145 per night, a steal for Lisbon. While award nights average around 34,000 points per night, you should be able to find rates as low as 24,000 points.

10. Moxy Athens City (Greece)

Moxy Athens City

The stylish Moxy Athens City offers a chic hotel in a prime location.

With views of the Acropolis, Moxy Athens City offers easy access to cultural attractions, transit, and the airport. Amenities include the Moxy Bar, rooftop, fitness center, and breakfast bar.

11. Moxy Tokyo Kinshicho (Japan)

Moxy Tokyo Kinshicho

The 205-room Moxy Tokyo Kinshicho is best known for its downtown location and convenience to public transit. The hotel is a short distance from Kinshicho Station, one of the busiest train stations in Tokyo, offering seamless access to Narita (NRT) and Haneda (HND) airports. The Tokyo Skytree, Imperial Palace, Asakusa Sensoji Temple, and Tokyo Dome are all a short distance away.

Hotel amenities include a library, bar, grab-and-go station, and gym. Rooms feature walk-in showers, peg hooks for storage, and flat-screen TVs.

Rates are as low as $130 or 34,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.

12. Moxy NYC Chelsea (New York, U.S.)

Moxy NYC Chelsea

Our last hotel on the list is none other than the New York City fan-favorite, the Moxy NYC Chelsea.

The 35-story Moxy NYC Chelsea has more communal spaces than other Moxy hotels. It features a lobby bar and lounge, a pop-up bakery, and a rooftop lounge. The 350 rooms feature access to streaming apps, walk-in showers, and in-room dining. And if you’re looking to get out of your room, a fitness center is also on the property.

Prices are incredibly reasonable for a hotel in one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in New York. This summer, cash rates can be as low as $190 per night, with an average of $260 per night. The cheapest points option can cost as little as 48,000 points per night, though award nights average around 62,000 points per night.

Hot Tip:

Did you know you can earn up to 3,000 bonus points on your stay at the Moxy NYC Chelsea? Through April 17, 2024, you’ll earn 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points on 1-night stays and 3,000 bonus points on stays of more than 2 nights. Make sure to use the promo code M11!

Final Thoughts

Moxy Hotels is one of Marriott’s most affordable brands. While the rooms are small, Moxy more than makes it up in communal spaces such as lobby bars, game rooms, and fitness centers. But what makes Moxy Hotels an excellent option is how affordable many of the hotels are with cash or points.

We hope this guide was helpful as you plan a stay at one of the many Moxy Hotels worldwide!
