New Food Choices at AA Flagship Lounges

American Airlines is introducing new menu options at Flagship Lounges at several hubs nationwide.

Part of its “menu refresh,” created in conjunction with the James Beard Foundation, the new options are “a bold lineup of globally inspired, chef-driven dishes that celebrate seasonal flavor and the creativity of award-winning culinary minds,” according to an airline spokesperson.

  • Los Angeles (LAX): Crispy maitake mushroom or fried chicken bao with yuzu aioli from LA-based Chef Brandon Kida
  • Miami (MIA): Warm vegetable sides like citrus sweet soy balsamic-glazed Brussels sprouts and asparagus, haricot verts and peas with citrus from Miami Chef Timon Balloo
  • Philadelphia (PHL): Squid ink biscuits served with speck ham and creole mustard by Philadelphia Chef Randy Rucker (available as of August 14, 2025)

How To Access Flagship Lounges

Flagship Lounges are American’s most premium offering on the ground. They’re found in several of the airline’s hub airports, including Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Dallas Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, New York (JFK), and Philadelphia, which recently opened at the end of May.

There are a few ways to gain entry to a Flagship Lounge:

  • Fly in first or business class on a qualifying international, transcontinental, or domestic flight marketed and operated by American Airlines or a Oneworld airline.
  • Have Executive Platinum, Platinum Pro, or Platinum AAdvantage status or Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan MVP Gold 100K, MVP Gold 75K, or MVP Gold and fly on a qualifying international flight, regardless of cabin class.
  • Have ConciergeKey status and fly on any flight marketed and operated by American or a Oneworld carrier.
  • Have Oneworld Emerald or Sapphire status and depart on or connect to any flight marketed and operated by American or a Oneworld carrier.
  • Purchase a day pass for $150 or 15,000 AAdvantage miles.

Final Thoughts

Eligible travelers who pass through an American Airlines Flagship Lounge in the coming weeks will have some great new food options to look forward to. Developed in tandem with the James Beard Foundation, these new dishes mean passengers can enjoy high-quality, delicious food before boarding their flights. We hope we continue to see more innovation in the food department as a result of this collaboration.
