If you collect Avios — and you probably have more of them than you realize, thanks to all the transfer partners — there’s a new airline you can now book with them, and it could make finding award flights to Asia a little easier.

Qatar Airways Privilege Club now lets members redeem Avios for Philippine Airlines flights, opening up another option for travelers heading to the Philippines and beyond.

Here’s what you need to know.

Philippine Airlines Flights Are Now Bookable With Qatar Avios

The update comes as Qatar Airways and Philippine Airlines continue expanding the codeshare partnership they launched last year. Along with reciprocal mileage earning between the 2 airlines, the bigger news for points and miles travelers is the ability to redeem Qatar Airways Avios directly for Philippine Airlines-operated flights.

Award flights can now be searched and booked directly online through Qatar Airways Privilege Club, making the process much easier than some of Philippine Airlines’ previous redemption partnerships.

That’s important because Philippine Airlines isn’t part of a major airline alliance, which has historically limited award booking options. Some partner programs required phone bookings, had restrictive redemption rules, or simply offered inconsistent award availability.

Pricing follows a distance-based model, though Qatar Airways hasn’t published an official award chart for Philippine Airlines flights. Longer routes and premium cabins will naturally cost more Avios, but taxes and fees seem relatively reasonable overall.

For example, flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Manila (MNL) start at 110,000 Avios one-way in business class, while longer routes from the East Coast — like New York (JFK) to Manila — price at 154,500 Avios one-way.

For travelers heading to the Philippines or elsewhere in Southeast Asia, this partnership adds another useful option for booking long-haul award flights — especially at a time when premium cabin availability across the Pacific can be difficult to find.

Hot Tip:

Avios are also one of the easiest airline currencies to earn and transfer. Points can be transferred between other Avios programs, such as British Airways Club, Iberia Club, Finnair Plus, Aer Lingus AerClub, and Qatar Airways Privilege Club. On top of that, Avios are transfer partners with American Express Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Capital One miles, Citi ThankYou Rewards, Bilt Rewards, and Wells Fargo Rewards, making these awards accessible for many travelers.

Final Thoughts

Being able to redeem Qatar Avios for Philippine Airlines flights gives travelers another solid option for getting to the Philippines and Asia using points.

The pricing won’t always be cheap, but the real value here is access — especially since Avios are easy to earn, transfer, and combine across multiple programs. And with transpacific award space still tough to find, having another way to book business class to Asia is a win.
